Great for breakfast mixed with quinoa
I have actually not tried this yet but have tried several ancient grains from Bob's red Mill and have been very happy with all of them. They are a good source of protein and fiber. I love eating them as a hot cereal.
I lover Bob's Red Mill Amaranth.....I cook it according to directions. The only thing I noticed with the 1st of 5 bags I purchased was some of the grains were rock like. Hard to explain but as I ate it seemed like a few of the grains were rocky. Thought it was glass at first. HUH???
Great for baking. Amaranth grain is a good source of dietary minerals, like phosphorus, manganese, and iron. Amaranth grain is free of gluten, which makes it a viable grain for people with gluten intolerance.
I start every morning with cooked Amaranth grains, my healthy go-to staple breakfast. It is great for my digestion and has only 1g of sugar, 0 sodium, but 21% fiber, 20% calcium. When combined with blackberries or blueberries and almonds or walnuts I have a delicious and heathy breakfast!
I have purchased this product and love it so much!! its so high quality delicious and so healthy! (no sand filling on teeth) Bob's red mill making the best products! Highly recommend it. Plus fast delivery. Thank u swansonvitamins i will continue to purchased more and more.
I bought these products about a month ago and I'm very pleased with them! The only problem was that one of the bags was open and spilling grain everywhere. Now I don't have a whole bag of that product. Otherwise, excellent service, great price and high quality grain. I Would definitely purchase from this company again.
I am trying new grains in keeping with Forks Over Knives regimen. So, I thought I'd try out Amaranth, a high protein grain. It was too gritty for me. Like a lot of grains, it's pretty bland tasting. I cooked a little up and put it in my morning oatmeal and quinoa. I didn't find it palatable for me. Bob's Red Mill is a good place to buy from, but for my personal tastes, this stuff is like eating sand.
I was rather disappointed with this purchase. Bob's Red Mill is a good brand, but I will not buy their amaranth again. It has a lot of grit in it - no doubt sand coming from improper manufacturing and lack of quality control. I would have saved myself a lot of grief it I had only read the reviews prior to purchasing it. I've had amaranth before, and it was never like this. Horrible!
I've been trying a few alternative to oat where I found buckwheat and I was very pleased with buckwheat so I figured I'll give other grains a shot. This product looked so promising, such good nutriment values but oh lord the taste... I was able to finish eating it but I won't finish the package nor try to eat it again. If you love amaranth though go ahead and buy this, the quality is good and it's organic. I think it taste like rhubarb, although it's been years since I had rhubarb so I could be mistaken.
