Surprised at how yummy these latkes turned out to be. So easy to make--just add water and stir. No more scraped knuckles for me. Don't forget to order the applesauce and sour cream.
Surpise...this mix produced latkes every bit as good as my mother used to make. Tip: Use a larger spoonful and cook a little longer than on package directions.
Taste as good as my Mama's from the old country.....only without all the potato peeling. I want more....taste great with applesauce and sour cream.
My grandmother used to make these from scratch, till the box brands came along, but I couldn't remember what kind she used. So, we ordered this kind and the orange box kind. Of the two, I have to say we found this brand to be tastier. Be sure to use fresh oil when frying, and remove the pancakes when they are golden brown but before they dry out on the grill. Good with sour cream and applesauce. My mother also made a variation with corn that became the standard - Use both packets. Add an extra egg and decrease the water by about a third of a cup. Stir in a can of creamed corn, Fry as usual. Yummy.
Very tasty. Better than the other well known brand. Too bad that Walmart failed to deliver it though they claimed they did.
