I have Walker Game Ear, and behind the neck protection. The Peltor is a marked improvement over both types I previously used. The normal volume is at a conversational level, not magnified as in other muffs. the loud noise buffer is excellent. I recommend these highly.
They work great for behind the head so you can wear a hat and not a cap.
very comfortable and stereo earphones work well. Not as quiet as most of my other muffs. But they are lightweight and you can wear a wide brim hat at the same time, good design.
This is a great earmuff. I use this for the target shooting and works perfectly. I have used some over-the-head earmuffs, but I didn't like something touching my head while doing something out door. I'm living in Florida and it is hot... I don't like wearing a headphone neither... Anyhow, I finally found a solution. I changed the sealing rings to 3M gel sealing rings (HY80) to make it more comfortable. I gave this for 4 stars because of the battery replacement. You will need 4 AAA batteries, and replacing them is not easy compared with the other electric earmuffs. Overall, I really like it. BTW, the item did not come on time as scheduled... I'm not sure how reliable the Walmart 2-day shipping is...
I love the design and is one of the few I've seen with the behind the neck design. This is most helpful since I frequently have to wear a hat or hardhat and this makes over the head design difficult. My only complaint is installing the batteries. This is my second pair and I nearly destroyed my first pair just trying to install the batteries and even with this experience I managed to tear my new ones trying to install the batteries the first time. Instructions received are terrible. I've found that a small blade screw driver is best as there is a tiny slot near the attachment point that can be used to insert the screw driver and lightly pry up the muff. Once this is done the muff can be pulled off fairly easily. This difficultly is maddening since it is not a good idea to store them with the batteries installed and every time you want to use them or store them you'll risk damaging them. Still knowing this I bought a second pair.
I really tried to like these. The way they fit around your ears are not tight enough to keep the sound out. I tried to bend them and it didn't help. Gun shots were muffled but not enough in my opinion. I tried to use them for grass cutting and still not practical. Seems like they are back heavy, meaning that they want slide down the back of the neck, messing up the ear positions. Too late for me to return them. Maybe others might have a better experience.
They work as stated and are pleasant to wear. What's wrong? There's no auto shut off and invariably one forgets. The third time for battery replacement I destroyed the muffs because it is a HORROR to get them off. Stupid, stupid design. Not good.
