I love the willow pump. I have size 17mm nipples so I get the 21 mm. I also bought the 24mm flanges with the 19mm inserts. All work well, are durable, easy to clean and put together. I highly recommend.
the willow pump is such a great product but it is a shame that sizing is so challenging. Willow isn't setup to make adapting to sizing easy. Not all sizes are supported in the flanges and I'd like the silicone inserts to be available for all flanges. For example, I bought a bunch of 21mm and I'm not getting good output so I'd like to be able to convert my 21mm to 19mm and maybe try a 21mm to 17mm to see if that works any better. this is extra important since you can't really see the pump when it is working to gauge the sizing.
Great concept but the technology needs to be refined for this to be a truly effective portable breast pump. You can't see how much you are pumping. Pumped for 25 minutes and right breast didn't empty (pumped less than an punch) and it actually got painfully hard and lumpy... this has never happened with my medela. Also not practical for wearing in public as the breast pumps are hysterically large (was envisioning wearing during a virtual meeting or even outside for a walk which is still technically possible but totally obvious you are pumping). Overall love the idea but think the technology is just clunky and ahead of its time.
These flanges are the biggest size they make and they still hurt me. I'll stick with my 27mm Medela.
1. I think it's completely unfair you have to pay extra if the generic flange doesn't fit!2. Long story short - I got this item and never opened it so I needed to return it. Just be sure to check the return policy before purchasing. You have to pay for shipping to return - I ended up paying more in shipping to have this delivered and shipped back than I did for the item itself. 3. Unhappy with my willow products overall - leaky, fussier to deal with than my electric pump, very messy, easy to lose milk. Overall unhappy with my experience with Willow - it's VERY clear a mom doesn't own this company! Will never recommend.
I had high hopes for this pump given the cost and the positive reviews. So far I've been only frustrated while using it. My output is not nearly as much as it is with my Medela pump in style - it takes me twice as long with the will to get half of what I was getting with the Medela. I also end up spilling some of the precious little milk I do get removing the bags from the flanges. I'd rather stand still for 10 mins with another pump than have the mobility and discomfort/disappointment I've experienced with Willow.
I had originally been using the bags with with the Willow; however, the Willow at times was not pumping milk (even though it was turned on and the app was counting ounces) I thought I would try the milk containers. Unfortunately the same issue has happened. The app will say it is pumping and counting ounces, and then when 15 minutes is up there is no milk in the container. I have a strong milk supply, and use the Spectra when I'm at home so I know this is a Willow issue not a milk supply issue. The app also doesn't correctly identify the ounces that are pumped out. I poor the milk into a container with ounce numbers on it, and it never matches what the apps says was pumped. I also think in general the pumps are too finicky, and they really have to be placed on just right or you spend lots of time figuring out exactly what part is not exactly put on correctly (not helpful in a work setting with limited time) I could deal with this if they also didn't have the first problem I discussed above related to no milk coming out. Lastly, the advertising on the website is not clear. I bought several additional pieces when I bought the milk containers because it wasn't clear if they would come with these additional pieces (milk container inserts and flanges). It wasn't until after I opened all three boxes that I saw the milk containers came with the milk container inserts and flanges; however, Willow's policy of returns is that if the box is open they cannot be returned. I wouldn't recommend this product, especially for the price. I was gifted this, thankfully, as I have heard from others the same complaints I have. I likely will not use this product going forward, and am going to try the BabyBuddha (better reviews and pricing).
Does not work
Clips are so fragile that on the first day of using it the plastic flap snapped off on one side. Not the best design.
These flanges are useless, do not work and spill milk all over.
