I was offered an upgrade on my 4.5 yr old Roku Stick at a great savings. I was reluctant at first since my old unit was still working perfectly, but wanted the new features. Am I glad I did. The improved stick is not only more powerful, but it has increased the resolution of my picture. The voice search works great and the TV buttons are a real convenience. Overall, I am loving the upgrade.
I purchased the streaming stick in an attempt to cut the cord after paying ridiculous amounts of money over the past several years for cable. This stick, in conjunction with the streaming service I purchased, gives me 99% of everything I had with cable previously, plus more, for far less in cost. I am very happy with it. The only issue I've had so far is that the power supply died on me shortly after purchasing it. I contacted Roku and they sent me a new power supply since it was under warranty. While I waited for that to come, I was luckily able to power my Roku with the USB port on my TV - thankfully my TV had enough power to support it.
I've only had the streaming stick for a couple weeks and we love it , it's so much better than my old one . Only reason I'm giving it a 3 star rating is because it gets so hot ! It came across the screen that it was overheating so I had to unplug it , I've ordered the free hdmi extender and I hope that fixes the problem, if so I'd give it a 10 star rating if I could !
Did not work on my old TV it said it was burning up and I tried two Roku sticks my son said to buy the kind that did not hook directly to TV so if your TV is 7 years old or more do not use Roku streaming I believe or my son says it is for the newer TV .
I bought this yesterday and it started over heating within 10 minutes of use. We are longtime Roku users and we are so disappointed. We thought we were upgrading, but now we are scared to use them at all. Looks like we are Switching to Amazon. If the extender they will send you for free will fix the issue, why not just include it with every Roku stick?
We've had ROKU for one month today and it is the worst decision we've made for entertainment service. It looses connection so many times during one program! We are constantly resetting this worthless stick, and it is not our internet connection because we do not lose connection on our other devices. NOT WORTH IT!
Roku Streaming Stick. After a year of use the USB stick began experiencing instability and over heating issues even with a fan. Product is now basically unusable. Before that I would have rated this as a five star. The short warranty now makes sense. No support phone number. Internet searches show others with same issue. HDMI extender was no help. Have competing product from other manufacturer working for many years.
Excellent product. Endless content to choose from. However the "Streaming Stick" has very poor wireless connectivity compared to other other models I have currently in service in my home. I currently use a Roku "Express +" and a Roku "Ultra" with no problems in my home. However, I have purchased 2 "Streaming Sticks" for use on flat screen TV's mounted on the walls. Neither of the 2 "Streaming Sticks" I purchased (model 3800) have adequate wireless reception to connect to my router reliably! The distance from my TV to my router is only 20 feet away! I have tried HDMI extension cords on both TV's to move the "Streaming Stick" up to 6 feet away from the TV's to reduce interference as recommended, but no improvement in reception. It is my opinion, (in addition to other reviews of the "Steaming Stick") that it has diminished wireless range compared to other models. I feel this is validated by the description of the upgraded "Streaming Stick +" having "exceptional wireless performance". Indicating the standard "Streaming Stick" having a average to below average performance. I would appreciate it if Roku would upgrade me to the "Streaming Stick +" a no charge as I am completely dissatisfied by the "Steaming Stick" and its functionality. Thank for your efforts and time in this matter.
I bought this like a week ago. Because I was super excited to get my own Roku. My mother has one which made me want to get one. I installed it and watch my favorite show. But there was a problem. My Roku streaming stick start to overheat. It bee doing that a lot. My mother Roku not a problem. But mine it extremely hot. I don't know what to do or if Ishould return it.
I bought this a couple of months ago. At fist it worked well. Now the remote is unresponsive. Because of this I do not have access to Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, and HBO. There is no one connected to Roku who is responsible for customer service. This makes me believe they know there is a problem with their equipment and do not care. I find this to be a horrible business plan. My recommendation is DO NOT BUY THIS!
