I had purchased a Nikon 3000 a few months ago and wanted a a wide angle camera to do some close up shots and be able to capture the entire picture at close ups and this lens seems to be doing a great job. I would highly recommend this lens for any close up wide angle shots. Thanks
I've used Nikon for years and have never been disappointed. This lens was purchased as a gift for my daughter. She wanted more flexibility with her D3200 than the standard zooms provide regarding depth of field. The f/1.8 provides greater aperture range (much brighter) so that she can focus where she wants and blur the background. I would have bought the automatic lens but it is too expensive for the minimal use the lens will be needed for.
This lens exceeded my expectations. It is small and compact, fits easily in my equipment bag. It takes excellent close ups that my regular lens will not allow me to take. Very satisfied.
Although a Nikon Refurb, it arrived in excellent shape. Not a mark on it. The glass was pristine and there were no obvious internal spects. Put it on a chart and it tested perfectly. No need for autotune. So, the auto focus is precise, the image quality is superb, and the color rendering is accurate. Its does not have the latest coatings, but I have not experienced any serious issues. Plus...its light! A wonderful performer, especially for the money. #sweepstakes
The AF only works with the DSLR cameras that have the autofocus motor within the camera body - if you are using a D3000, D5000, etc you need the AF-S. However this AF lens will focus with versions like the D7000 and others because they have the built-in focus drive motor. You can read this info from the Nikon website.
so far so good. The lens is little bit smaller than what I have assumed but works well
I tend to like zoom lenses more because I like to control the distance between me and the object I'm photographing but this lens is a great one for portrait photography so I added it to my collection. So far so good, I like it. It's nice and light and small so the camera isn't so heavy which makes it good for every day photography too.
I love the lens. I never knew how fun it could be shooting with a 1.8.
Maybe my order was not processed correctly. But if this is a wide angle lens I don't get it. Focus was an issue, zoom out is the only way I could use it.
