I am using this as an external hard drive for my PS5. I have a couple hundred games saved on this. The PS4 games run perfectly fine playing off this drive without having to move the game back to the internal drice. I recommend this product.
I am very pleased with my 4TB hard drive. I had worked as a private school teacher for about twenty years, so I had accumulated a great deal of educational materials along the way - including audio courses, an extensive Ebook library, and obviously video and music. The 4TB disk is my storage library - allowing me to retrieve and/or share materials with others at lightning speed - while leaving my 1TB hard disk freed for routine, daily business. I highly recommend this product. And when it fills, buy another and lay it alongside. But most folks would probably not need more than 4TB to store their media.
Price with discount was very good! Easy to setup as a scheduled backup of my 2 bay NAS system. This provides me the assurance of having a separate / secondary backup of my data.
I have not yet been able to see it under constant usage and I am not sure what will happen when I do. The product loos good, and installed without problem.
I've transferred movies from my receiver to the hard drive and some of them disappeared completely after the transfer, and others don't show when viewed alphabetically. I can see up to titles that begin with “M”. If I view by “Recorded Date” I am able to see some that are further down on the alphabet. I have 3 of these hard drives and have the same problem with all of them.
I received a leaking gallon of milk on my porch and my other item was submerged.
Apps would not get installed on windows 10 PC. Upon connecting it to PC, it would not start and PC froze. I returned it the next day. It seems that the hard drive was damaged.
My reason for giving this item a poor rating is because I never received it during that following date whomever delivered it brought it to the wrong house, the only good thing came out of all of this is I contacted customer service, hopefully things will get better.
Western Digital My Book 12TB external drive would not display in Windows 10 file manager. Ran Western Digital diagnostics and got "SMART status failure". Return unit and purchased another which came with box previously opened. This one did at least have a driver loaded, but still would not display and got "SMART status failure" when running WD diagnostics. I own another WD 12TB drive that has worked fine for years.
Ordered to have on hand for future use after finishing and feeling better from cancer treatments and surgies. Opened today and it has the incorrect USB cord. The cord and adapter packaging look like they had been part of a return though box look new and unopened. Because it's outside of the return deadline (my fault) I now have an expensive paper weight.
