Yes, this powder is somewhat bitter, as other reviewers mentioned, but it is a lot less bitter than another brand I was using. I think that is just the taste of L-Tryptophan. I am grateful to find the reasonable price of this product, since Tryptophan tends to be pricey and I am glad to be able to take it without all the fillers.
I take this in the middle of the night to help me fall back into lala land. I use about 1/2 t of this and about 1t of Swanson inositol powder.. Before bed I mix them in a small container. When I wake up in the middle of the night I dump them directly into the gullet and chase with water.
I've used l-tryptophan for many years and much prefer this newer powder form than the caps. It's on my nightstand so it is handy when I have interrupted nights. I put a small amount of water on a tablespoon with 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon of the product. No mixing or stirring - just a good drink of water and soon I'm back to sleep.
I bought this Tryptophan to help me sleep. It was more economical to buy the powder than pills. However, I never feel like I'm able to get a consistent dose. But it does help me sleep. I'll order this again.
I expected to use this powder in water for larger tryptophan doses per day. I have tasted glucosamine sulfate, which is pleasant as a powder, but the tryptophane powder is rather bitter, and I think I will throw away the bottle.
very disappointed with the powder. doesn't mix well with water, clumpy, tastes awful. I got the powder hoping it would absorb faster, but it is quite unpleasant to take in this form. buy pills instead!
