NETGEAR C7800 Modem/Router. Excellent quality. Strong reception and signal quality. Very good wireless connectivity. Very satisfied. Built to last long.
Loved this at first when it came out but after a year and a half I had to keep rebooting the router once a week. The range was phenomenal though and the speed was great. But couldn't always handle the 25 devices I had hooked up (smart home)
Bought Aug 31 2019 and it is still going strong! Thinking about upgrading to AX6000(CAX80) for the wifi6.
Unit works great. Much better than the one my internet provider charged me for. One note - instructions should include "contact your internet provider to have them initiate/update your service." (Maybe it did, but I couldn't find it.) The tech was quite helpful in getting me updated online, and told me politely that I needed to call them (without making me feel dumb). :) Will definitely buy from NetGear again if I need another modem/router.
Had major issues with my ISP. Had to break away. It was constantly blocking streams on my PS5 and wouldn't connect to the PSN network. It treated it like it was being hacked. I ran all the options to fix and the only solution was to get a new router. My new router has been awesome and more stable. Sometimes you get what you paid for, I'm glad I made the leap.
The Good: Nice design in a DOCSIS 3.1 combo modem router with blinking blue lights on the antenna, USB ports, and LED on/off switches along with a WPS switch to quickly connect devices. The Bad: Unreliable. Worked flawlessly for about 12 hours then it would loose the Internet connection in anywhere from 15 minutes to 2 hours. After one week of mis-operation I returned it. Call Cox cable to reset the modem and check my internet status almost everyday - and finally after three calls in one day determined that the ISP wasn't the issue it was the Netgear C7800. Replaced with Arris Surboard SBG8300 DOCSIS 3.1 which has less features (no WPS switch or USB ports and only two lights) but has proven very reliable. In the first three days of operation it hasn't lost the Internet connection and has proven to be just as fast as the Netgear. Replaced:
I'm very disappointed with this device. If I knew when I ordered it of all of its shortcomings I wouldn't have bought it. Support has been very poor. I submitted a new support request a week ago and as of today I've had no response.
It was a decent router to replace a Comcast rental with less Ethernet ports but it started to drop connections and require restarts every other day or so. Eventually it stopped connecting to the net with any sort of stability. I tried to factory reset it but it got forever stuck on "Firmware is updating". Not sure to blame Comcast because they run the firmware for this one or the poor hardware in the router/modem. I'd avoid it and will be avoiding Netgear for he foreseeable future.
Had issues straight out of the box. Would not let any device connect to the 5G at all stating the password was invalid. Tried everything and no solution. Called tech support and waited long time for them to tell me to just reset the device, which I did several times before I called, then to return the device to the seller for a refund. Don't waste money on this, I had other brands that never gave me issues at all.
I purchased a Nighthawk x4s AC3200 via Amazon in February and installed it two weeks ago. It died today. All the lan lights are bright, wifi ate dark, cannot access it, won't even factor reset. And the website is no help. I have registered this product but can't figure out how to return this paperweight.
