Microcut is the way to go. This will never be put back together! Excellent for home use but since it only takes 6 sheets at a time it would not be good for a heavy user.
I love it. It cuts all the paper and credit cards up like confetti.
This little shredder is awesome! Especially for only $35! It's small but powerful. It can easily do 6 sheets (even a few more than that). It shreds things beautifully and keeps running for a long time. The tiny size makes it easy to stash away but this thing packs a punch! Money well spent!
I have used this shredder almost non-stop for the last few days.(filled 4 garbage bags) It shuts off if it overheats, but does not take too long to cool off. Only wish the basket was bigger so you don't have to dump it as frequently. Out performs any other shredder that I have owned.
I don't generate a lot of paper over time, but I generate more than I can shred by hand or with scissors. Cleaning out a trunk I use as a "document/statement dump," I was overwhelmed by the amount of sensitive stuff I needed to get rid of. The price on this shredder was so low, I was doubtful, but two things directed me to order it: 1) the other customer reviews and 2) Walmart is the best at returns. I just finished shredding years of financial statements and personal documents. Not only did the shredder do the job, but it's not so noisy I couldn't watch tv as the shredding was going on. After every bin empty, I would let it cool down for a few minutes before I started up again. I am astounded at how well this little shredder did. From now on, I can shred at smaller intervals and not let the "document/statement dump" get so huge. This little shredder really delivers - and for under $40! Thanks, Walmart!
Does the job for small number of pages. Larger projects are not advised. It heats up quickly and is effective with only 2 pieces of 20lb paper. Must be snug in it's own trash bin (provided). This feature can be an advantage. However, any large project will slow down quickly because there not enough room for shredding to fall without backing up into the shredder. The see through window has pegs on the inside that catch (and potentially make holes) any plastic bags. It gets the job done to cut up information yet can be frustrating for big/end of year projects. Is an example of "you get what you pay for."
Being new, it is so much quieter than my last shredder! I read the reviews from those who purchased before me and made my decision to purchase this one. This little guy packs a big punch when it comes to shredding. It does take its toll with 6 sheets so I would advise only 3 sheets at a time. I like the "overheat (red) signal" it gives off when it needs cooling down time. I would recommend this to anyone looking for simple home shredding.
We've had this for just over a year with very light duty. The night after we came home from vacation we heard a noise in the office. it was the shredder running without any paper. It was very hot to the touch and had been running for more than and an hour before we tracked down the noise. No longer runs in auto mode. I can't help worrying what wound have happened if it had started doing that while we were on vacation!
What a huge disappointment. I was hoping to experience this amazing shredder everyone raved about in the reviews. Put in my order and it was only available for pickup so I had to go an hour out of my way because this item was exactly what I needed. Sadly, upon opening the box and attempting to assemble it I found the waste basket was not the correct size for the shredder! It would not fit because the front was too wide for the basket. Therefore it would not turn on either. On top of this all, I found the shredder to be used! Pieces of paper stuck in the teeth. I couldâve sworn I bought a new one....
The electronic sensor eventually fails. And the machine runs with no paper in the auto position when that happens. If left unchecked, I'm sure it will eventually catch fire. Probably not very safe for most homes or offices. Also, unless you shred nothing but clean, white paper, they will not honor the warranty.
