We have had this heater for about a month and so far it has handled our temps real well. I will be very pleased if this ATH1 proves durable enough for a northern winter. I will give an update as winter settles in, so far our morning lows are 12- 18 degrees.
We have four Vornado tower heaters including two recently purchased ATH1 units. On arrival one ATH1 was defective. Vornado sent UPS return authorization and replaced unit with new one. We received replacement today. No additional charges. Great company, friendly service, and superior products. Our original unit has functioned flawlessly for four years. Hard to beat!!
My husband bought this for the bedroom and liked it so much I am buying another one. We just keep the heat off and use Vornado heaters. Cuts down on your total heating bill tremendously!
Works well. I have had this for 2 years now and works great it small rooms or the bedroom. I think the thermostat is a little off on this model. I put it on 75 and it will cut off and on to keep the temperature as it should but there is usually about a 10 degree difference from what the heater thinks the temperature is and what it really is. I put it on 75 to keep the room at 65. I put it on 80 and the room is around 70 degrees. Other then that, it works and it has lasted for years. It heats very quickly in a small room.
This was oveall a great product and there were no suprises ( i received what i thought i ordered) the unit functions as it should and we have been very happy with it. It would be nice if you could run the fan without the heater ( i guess they need to sell you 2 products instead). as far as heating our room this product does the trick and it also has enough power to heat most of our house ( small house about 800 sq ft) I would recomend purchasing and i believe the extra dough it costs is acually worth it although the construction itself is a little cheap.
I love Vornado and have several fans, but I am disappointed in this particular product because it is so noisy. My guess is that because this is a tower and not a box, the nature of the shape and the way it works is the reason for the noise. It heats a small room but I don't think being able to adjust the temperature makes much of a difference. There is only so much heat a space heater can crank out, and I don't think this tower does the job considering its price.
This heater takes a while to heat up and a section of it still pumps out cold air while also supplying some heat. after 1 hour being on in a 2 car garage it will eventually heat the space I recommend pairing it with a quartz heater for direct heat and this will move the heat around a bit. I use it for my garage gym and it seems to do an ok job at heating the space I'm sure there are better options but for the price it does what you would expect.
I'm a very safety conscious renter who has subtenants renting my unfinished basement. I did a LOT of research before purchasing the ATH1 Tower Heater. It got excellent reviews in a number of places so I bought it for them last November. They happily used it all winter. However, when they took it out to use today for the first time since March, it turned on and within minutes, turned itself off. Upon inspection, I see multiple areas on the front grill that have melted. This really scares me. I hope Vornado will make good on their promise for "perfect" and replace this for us with a safer, working model. I'm totally willing to pay extra to make up the difference. Plastic covering the effective heat source doesn't seem like the best design plan. I wouldn't buy this one again.
I have to unfortunatly leave bad feedback. When i received my heater it was not realitivly cold(about 50-60 degrees) however a few weeks ago we had a drop to about 40 degrees and this little heater just could not keep up (oh i live in coastal southern cali and i cant imagine if it was actually really cold outside). I left it set on 80 for at least 4 hours and there was no measuable difference in tempature in the room. I have used Vornado fans and i think they are the best and i was hoping the heaters would be the same however i would have to recomend buying a cheap space heater because they seem to work better.
I purchased an ATH1 after doing considerable on-line research into full room portable heaters using the following criteria: 1. Full room capable. 2. Portable. 3. 120v supply at less than 15amps. 4. Ability to manage room temperatures automatically. 5. Adjustable heat output and fan speed. 6. Easy controls. 7. Quiet operation. 8. Tip-over and Overtemp safety features. The Vornado ATH1 met all of the criteria. Unfortunately, in "real-life" operation, it was not able to keep this particular room warm enough (73*). Perhaps the "full room" designation does not apply to a bedroom that measures 10' x 20' which is a bit larger than normal perhaps and does have high quality patio doors at one end of the room. However, I purchased a competitors model (Lasko ceramic) at about half price, with all of the same criteria, and it is capable of keeping the room very warm even at today's -11* temperature outside. Unfortunate, but true.
