This medicine contains 200 mg of ibuprofen, an over-the-counter NSAID that provides relief from pain by blocking the path of pain signals. Motrin doesn't just mask pain; it stops it at the source. Is Motrin Safe to Use? Motrin IB 200 mg is safe and effective to use when taken as directed. It is designed for adults and children 12 years of age and older. Ask a doctor before giving it to a child younger than 12. The bottle contains 300 coated caplets. Take one ibuprofen for muscle pain or fever every 4 to 6 hours, as needed. If necessary, you can take two caplets. Do not take more than six caplets in 24 hours, unless directed by a doctor. If you experience an upset stomach, take Motrin with food or milk. The pain reliever contains 200 mg of ibuprofen, which has been linked to an increased risk of stomach bleeding, heart attack and stroke. The risk for stomach bleeding increases if you have three or more alcoholic drinks per day while taking this medicine.
