[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a software engineer specializing in medical device cybersecurity, so I was naturally drawn to the NETGEAR XR1000 Router with DUMAOS. Setup: Setup took me an afternoon. The physical router appears to be of good quality. The largest glitch I encountered was when I attempted to display DUMAOS using Firefox which I knew was supported because it says so on the packaging. When Firefox is used, it “looks” like you will be able to use the DUMAOS but this simply isn't the case. When I switched to Bing, the interface came right up. “Interesting” DUMAOS Features: Device Manager Screen – This screen shows all the devices that are or have connected to the router. It's very sexy looking and updates in real time. I have two problems with it: 1. There are so many “unnamed device”s. Of the 11 unnamed devices on my network – Which are legit? 2. The computer I'm using shows up offline. After some research, I deduced this was because I have a NETGEAR switch I'm using as a hub. Network Monitor – This is a great screen that shows you the devices that are using your bandwidth. The router doesn't display data for my NETGEAR switch so the screen is inconsistent. The device table Total Usage and Network Overview do not match. Connection Benchmark – This is like a ping test application. I have Cox Cable and it says my Speed it “D”, my ping is “A ” and my Ping Under Load is “D”. I wasn't able to find a way to either correct this or find settings to change the ranges. Service: https://www.netgear.com/home/services/armor/ says you get one year of NETGEAR Armor. When I activated the subscription, it says it was only for 30 days. Rahm at NETGEAR service has inconsistent responses on this, first saying all devices were 30 days and then saying it applies to selected devices. He also left the ticket open for my input when he was asking his supervisor about this. Summary: This router is wonderful in concept but poor in both execution and NETGEAR's service simply sucks.
This router was the perfect device to integrate and provide the needed speeds, performance and efficiency and tools needed with the new service provider that was recently installed at my home. Looking forward to using the product and having the peace of mind with service-related needs that come up, in having NexGear's warranty in place and the service team standing behind this product.
I found this product unique from other Netgear products I have. All my devices got connected really fast. The setup process was a piece of cake. The equipment came with a very robust software management tool that have many great operations and setups. My signal issue on my Old Nighthawk AC3000 is no more. In fact, I don't even need my 2 additional repeaters anymore. This product is really great. I have tried many brands before but this product have exceeded my expectations. I have 3 boys that are extreme gamers like their father. With all of us playing different games like LOL, MW, WOW, Fortnite, EVE Online and mom watching TV over internet, there is no lag whatsoever and neither pings over the sky for anyone. All games running as smooth as ice cream. Thanks Netgear!!! A++++
Seems to be working fine so far. Working alot better than my XR500 gaming router of 3 years did.
Everything runs very smoothly. We don't even game, we use this for just our everyday devices. Works amazingly! No issues with connection/s. Highly, highly recommend!
Our older Nighthawk has served its time, and had slowed done. This new system tripled our speed. We are not gamers, but do have a variety of things on Wi/Fi. Buffering disappeared, and zero drops. The coverage is fantastic, as we have an acre of land, and I walked the yard and never lost a full and strong signal. Works beyond our expectations. Would buy again and recommend to anyone who wants an upgrade.
This is great faster speeds no "lagging" on online gaming while watching TV and with 2 tablets connected while ring cameras connected. It has good range now covers signal all the way to the front of the house.
Bought to replace a R6400 that was doing well but was 10 years old. There was no difference in the performance from the old unit.
TV streaming is good. Gaming not so much. I got lag and my character just walks around and get transfer to other parts of the game. PS5
For a gaming router, this router couldn't handle 3 Xbox's and 1 computer playing Fortnite at the same time without lag and connection drops.
