This is my first time setting one of these up. I liked what it had to offer and I was not let down by it's performance! Easy! I can control it with my smartphone. It really doesn't take much time to set it up, 5 minutes. It's pretty much self explanatory. It comes with the cable to connect from your modem to the yellow (internet) port in the back. You enter a username and a password for yourself. Then select if this is your main or temporary router. Guest network, parental controls and media. Also, it has 4 ethernet ports. It does give you faster streaming/gaming, more devices. Takes out the worry of friends using my wifi. It's protected. And that annoying circle when it's buffering, gone. No more!
The LinkSys ac1200 Wi-Fi router is very easy to set up. It boasts a 1200 Mbps, which all I know is fast. I don't know the technology terms and abbreviations but I know what works and the Linksys routers are always my favorites. This router is small and black so that it does not take up much space and can blend what the surrounding area is very well. This router has a dual band which again I can't say what that means other than it's fast. I would recommend anyone looking for a good router to definitely check this one out!
This is a simple yet sophisticated router. We were able to connect it in minutes with security keys in place. The set up is so simple any one could do it, and I mean anyone! I plugged it in as the pictures showed and followed the instructions to sign into a certain website. Immediately it went to a screen where I chose a name and password for each GHZ band (2) . It has two dedicated 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, the AC1200 Dual-Band WiFi 5 Router doubles the bandwidth to maximize performance without interference. This is exactly what we needed. What this means is that some things can be connected to the 2.4 ghz and some to the 5 ghz band. The result is a stable connection across all your devices. We have a large property with many buildings and a Velop mesh system in place. We also have wifi video camera security. The center building is a inlaw guest house. This is our main modem router location. To the left of that is our large house and to the right our work shop. Our previous modem had both 2.4 and 5 ghz abilities but you could not dedicate them. What that meant was often our guests in the guests house would use our bandwidth to the point that our farthest mesh system nodes often were kicked off the internet and would drop on and off. The other problem we had was our video cameras run on 2.4 ghz and often would get stuck trying to to connect because they would not find the 2.4 ghz speed that they needed. Now the cameras use the name and password to the 2.4 ghz and our shop and home use the 5.0 ghz. We also tell friends or relatives who visit at guest house only the 2.4 ghz password so we have no unstable service in our home while guests stay. Thank you Linksys for making life less complicated with an easy to use system. My husband is not tech savvy at all. He doesnt have a clue what I'm talking about or how the mesh works but he was able to understand this router set up and instantly saw a difference. TV streams seamlessly and computers are now actually fast in our home.
We have long been a fan of Linksys routers and this one is no exception. It keeps are wifi signal strong and steady - which is important as I work from home. Even with heavy traffic (from streaming, gaming, and additional phones and computers on our home network) - we've had no problems. Set up was easy and I like that it's relatively small and not an eyesore as we have it set up in our living room.
So my setup is an internet service provider combination modem and router, and range has always been problematic. 20 feet away and you're down to 4 bars. Forget getting signal in the garage. This Linksys solves the issue completely. Now I get 5 bars anywhere in the house. It drops to two bars in the garage but that's 4 walls (one of which is brick) between the router and the laptop so that's understandable. Still not perfect but the grand plan is to keep my original setup in place and put this by the back window to get significantly better coverage in the yard and garage. Also a big plus is not blinking lights on the front which is rather distracting, so it is discreet in that sense.
The Wi-Fi router I received has the two antennas that you can move to have a better signal. This router makes your signal stronger for your Wi-Fi. Linksys has great quality Wi-Fi routers that work amazingly well. I highly recommend this wi-fi router.
So this router is in the low end priced router range from Linksys, But it seems to be a great value. So I am using it for a extension of my other router which has limited in coverage. But with dual external antennas it will allow greater reception that I need in the far end of my home. It has greater speed & coverage which is good for the Value of this Devise. This is the most affordable dual band router I've seen. Especially from linksys. I've heard Linksys is a good brand and have tried it. So far its been great for a backup to my other router, which I have had for several years. The 5ghz band doesn't seem to have the greatest signal, but excellent speed! the 2.4ghz seems to have great range compared to my other router. The construction of the outer casing looks well designed, and with linksys reputation of making quality equipment I think the Dual capacity router will fulfill my needs to Extend my coverage in that part of my Home. Because of these features of this Router I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a Value added Router to replace older and Slower speed routers.
This is a solid router, which can handle multiple devices across bands. It is very easy to set-up and comes with a simple wizard to guide you through the set-up. The router provides four fast Ethernet ports and WiFi speeds with more bandwidth more than most families use or need. It can replace the simple routers that most ISPs provide and has good capacity to meet the needs of a small to mid-sized family with basic internet streaming bandwidth needs. Not sure how it works in a larger home which we couldn't test in our place. I would buy this any day for a budget router for simple needs.
Very small and doesn't have lights on the front so you can tell if it's working. Will be taking it back.
I already have a router but it is much larger and not rated as high for WiFi speeds. Mainly my computer runs through Ethernet, and the rest of the household uses WiFi most commonly. One must assume the world is more focused on WiFi now, because my 8 year old router averages 90-120 Mbps on Ethernet and this Linksys AC1200 was 70-80 Mbps. The WiFi was on par though. (I do not have 875+ Mbps internet to test the full capabilities of this router.) It managed to get 120 Mbps consistently on WiFi. Set up was easy, but had some "quirks". Such as requiring to have me release the IP and set up all wireless settings before functioning with Ethernet ports. It is compact, the antenna are directional and solid. It is a well built router. (Just not tailored to my Ethernet set up, I cannot blame the router entirely, maybe it isn't AS compatible with my modem or doesn't like Cat 7E.)
