I don't know why there's bad reviews on this. But I bought one of these on clearance for $20 and glad I did. It's durable squirrels don't bother it because I have spicy bird seed in it. Plus the perch are big enough for birds to land on it. Definitely buying another one!
I wouldn't say this works with all seed blends like the description says. I have tried them all, and the bigger ones, even sunflower seeds, seem to clog it up. I use the Pennington Wild Finch blend and it works great. Also the perches are too short for bigger birds like cardinals but the small birds love it. Squirrels don't get into the feeder, but they might shake some sunflower seeds out. Apparently not enough to be worth it, because they gave up after a while. I have had it hanging in my yard for almost 5 years and it's still in good shape, as seen in the photo.
Hi Was charged $23.94 but the item is on clearance for $15.
I have had this feeder for a few years and would highly recommend it...until today! lol Picture added.
the birds in my area have a hard time with this. they seldom feed here. it foils squirrels. i have other easy feeders which the birds maybe prefer, because the same food goes fast in the other feeders. will probably replace. seems well built and its attractive.
Well, the price was terrific but the squirrels are able to hold onto it just fine though it is a deterrent. Large birds also have difficulty. See my picture of the squirrel eating his heart out!
I hav multiple feeders and many different types of birds. I bought this because I thought it would prevent the squirrels eating all the seed. Not one bird came to it, and it contained the same seed as the others (Pennington seed)
I'm not sure what region of the world this feeder was designed for, but where I live squirrels have arms. It appears the designer of this product wasn't aware of this fact. If you look outside and notice that your squirrels, in your area, also have arms, do not buy this product.
I bought this about 2 months ago and unfortunately don't have the receipt or outside label. The birds are not even touching the food. Tried 2 different bags of recommended bird seed spending more than the feeder to date. I have 2 other bird feeders and have to constantly fill them up. Something is definitely not right. Very disappointed.
I got this "squirrel proof" bird feeder cause I got tired of fighting the squirrels. Little did I know that it would be bird proof also. The pirches are so short that the one or two bird's that have gone to it have to hover to get the food. I did however cut some coat hangers and add some pirch space and I am waiting to see if they hit on it. If they don't I'm afraid it's going back for a different one. If you'd like you can look at my photo and see what I did to try and help it's to the left. It's not a permanent fix but if they sit on them I'll be happy. If not they can easily be removed so I can return it. I'll post back and let everyone know if they worked! :)
