Save a lot of money by not having to purchase shredded cheese, or preprocessed potatoes. We have already paid for this with our savings on not purchasing shredded cheese, hash browns, or prepackaged potato products. Makes it very simple to make homemade scalloped potatoes, and they taste much better than the packaged products. Looking forward to using the slicer attachment for cutting up the apples and peaches from my trees for drying. More important, my wife loves the convenience of her own slicer/shredder.
Nothing but good things when you use this slicer/shredder accessory. From vegetables to cheese you can't go wrong. We bought this for ourselves 6 years ago and it's in great condition. We like to grate our own parmesan and cheddar cheese. We grate cabbage and carrots for cole slaw. It's easy to use and to clean. We bought our daughter a Kitchenaid mixer for Christmas and she asked for the slicer/shredder for her birthday. What a daughter. ;)
I picked it up from the store a couple of days ago and used it for the first time today to shred mushrooms. It worked perfectly!! Think I'll get a lot of use from it.
I've had my Rotor Slicer/Shredder for 4 yrs but the plastic next to attachment to mixer is cracking ready to break off. My mom has an old metal attachment that is still working great after all these years. I only used it for shredding cheese because vegetables turn mushy and watery. I spent over $1,000 on several attachment accessories for my mixer trusting the brand. I don't have issues with other attachments this is my first real issue. My cones are in great shape and the rotor except the crack area is fine. See photos. Very disappointed with this. Shedder wasn't cheap.
Ive had this slicer for about 1 yr now. It is the second one I've owned. The first one cracked where the plastic meets the metal, and a big chunk of the plastic cracked off. Now my current slicer is starting to crack and appears will suffer the same fate...to end up in a dumpster. I really like this slicer, and would rate it better if it didnt keep cracking and wasting my money.
Unlike the mixer and every other attachment from KitchenAid...this is a dud. Fortunately I can hand slice or Mandolin...because for produce this is nothing you would want to use...But it would do a decent job shredding cheese until the housing failed - cracking at the ends of the shaft lock slot. I'm waiting to hear back from KitchenAid...
This is horrible. My peppers are not sliced but are I don't even know what to call it but maybe mushed? Cukes are shredded on both 4 and 6. It's like the blades are too dull and it all gets caught behind the cone. It actually peeled the skin off my peppers! I gave it one star bc I had to. What a waste of money. I love my kitchen aid and hope I can salvage the shredder or something.
The cones rust where the shaft clips onto the base. It happened on all four cones and the drive shaft. Lots of empty space between the cones and the housing. Lost a good amount of my shredded veg that turned to mush in the empty space. Takes good advantage of the power of the mixer, but clearly not designed to be used regularly.
Bought this a bit ago but just used it for the first time. Horrible! The housing around where the stem that goes into the mixer body is all cracked! And because of this (I hope) food also goes between the white plastic housing and the cone/shredder blade. So maybe half my food is shredded/sliced and the other is mashed up! But for the plastic body to just crack and give way, come on! Not high quality at all.
Unfortunately this attachment didn't meet our expectations. Knowing my affinity for cooking, my husband bought this for me to make shredding easy and quick. The motor was straining to turn the blades when a load was put on it and none of the vegis or cheeses we tried turned out shreaddd or sliced and none were edible due to plastic shavings being sheard off the inside of the cylindar from it shifting in the housing. Very disappointed.
