Two varieties of Seventies exploitation cinema are paired up on this DVD, the first in a series from VCI's "Psychotronica" imprint. Both Delinquent Schoolgirls (aka Carnal Madness, Bad Girls and Scrubbers II) and Dream No Evil have been given widescreen transfers to disc, letterboxed at 1.85:1 on conventional televisions and enhanced for anamorphic play on 16x9 monitors. While the quality of the camerawork on both films leaves something to be desired, the transfers look great, and the claim on the box that these films were sourced from the original negatives is easy to believe given the clarity and detail of the images. The audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Stereo (retaining the original monophonic mixes), and sound as good as they're ever likely to get. The dialogue for both films is in English, with no subtitles or multiple language options. As a bonus, Delinquent Schoolgirls features an optional commentary track moderated by Elijah Drenner and featuring Bob Minor, one of the stars of the film, who clearly enjoys discussing his career in movies and the many beautiful women who worked on the picture. Three trailers are also included. If neither Delinquent Schoolgirls or Dream No Evil are considered classics among enthusiasts of strange cinema, the presentation here is very good indeed, and fans of Seventies sleaze should at least give this a look.
