This mattress pad is wonderful. It stays put and does not shift with the sheets. I am not so sure about the waterproof part yet because that had not been tested. The backing is not plastic but more cloth like and seems like it is made to repel water.
We have a new pillow top mattress set and want to protect it from possible staining. We bought this mattress protector from Walmart on line. It was ready for store pickup in less than 5 days and we love it? It adds an extra layer of cushioned comfort, fits perfectly and,unlike other water proof mattress protectors, it does not use noisy plastics that can also make you uncomfortably warm. It can be washed and dried without losing the waterproofing--a great bonus!
After trying several different mattress pads - most with that awful plastic lining - we saw this one and gave it a try, considering the price to be reasonable compared with most similar types. When it arrived and we put it on the bed, it was extremely comfortable!! The padding was soft and while we already have a very nice pillow top mattress - this pad made it even more comfy. I then waited for the true test - did it work? We bought it to protect the mattress from our aging dog. When the test came - it worked! So, we ordered a 2nd one so we can keep one on the bed at all times, even when the first is being washed. I recommend this pad to anyone who needs to waterproof/protect their mattress and the price is perfect. No uncomfortable/hot plastic that ruins in the dryer - even on low cycles. This pad washes and dries perfectly.
This is what I expected, nonslip hold very tight 100% waterproof washed it ,still reuseble and Quiet, My mattress still nice and clean! I recommend cover ..
I recently purchased a new Mattress and Box Spring and chose the best that was available. I wanted to protect my new sleep-set and was offered a mattress protector by the salesman (Sleepys). After all was finalized, I tried in vain to place the so-called waterproof protector over the mattress. It was nearly impossible! I made an attempt to return the item but, since it had been opened, I was refused. What I was sold was over $100 and it certainly appreared to be worth no more than $10. Then I checked Walmart's site and found this. Machine washed it and put it on. The fit is simply perfect. Its pillow-padding is excellent and it does the job with the waterproof test....The Mainstay Mattress pad is worth every single dollar. In fact, It's actually a deal and a half. Do not purchase a cover from any of those Sleep Centers. They aren't made properly, don't fit and do not work. Grab this one instead. You certainly won't regret it.
I had high hopes for this mattress pad and still should send it back, but the first time I put this on my daughter mattress (turning toddler room to big girl room - 3 yr old), the second corner just tore. When one makes up a bed, one puts one corner of the mattress pad on and then the other and the other followed by the last. I generally like to keep it tight, so I use opposite corners and ends to ensure a tight fit. Well, simply putting the second corner on the mattress, the "ribbing" that goes around the corners of the mattress, simply pulled off. I was very disappointed in the quality of the mattress pad. Not to mention that it does not fit tight on the mattress at all. Once I put the fitted sheet on the mattress, it began to crinkle underneath. I am very disappointed and should send it back, but I am not sure I want the hassle and will probably use it until it falls apart and then I will go and pick one up.
The top surface was soft and seemed to meet the purpose of being waterproof. The elasticized sides actually tore when trying to put it on the mattress and I was trying to be very careful about it. Also, it slipped off the sides of the mattress and would not stay in place. I returned it.
Received this mattress cover today. It was suppose to be a queen size. We put it on the bed and it lacked about an inch on either side. I looked at the label again to make sure I ordered the right size. Then my husband looked at the skirting and found a big rip in it. The bottom part was like plastic you would cover your patio table with. Taking it back to the store today. Not worth a dollar!
We bought this mattress cover a while ago to protect our brand new king size mattress from doggie accidents. Well one finally happened last night and I felt relieved because I knew we had this cover on the bed, until I pulled everything off the bed to wash it. It was then that I realized that all of the "accident" had soaked through the mattress cover and directly into the mattress. I am so mad! I think I will just have to stick with the vinyl mattress covers in the future.
I bought this pad to protect my brand new mattress from stains because I was told by the man that sold it to me that the warranty is void if the mattress gets dirty or wet. I go to walmart to buy a mattress protector and they are totally out of the higher priced (and I assume quality) ones. So I settle for this one and as soon as I got it home I was putting it on my bed and my hand goes right through the side as I was pulling it over my mattress! Very weak and poor quality around sides of mattress. I will be returning it tomorrow for a refund or exchange for the more expensive one if they are in stock.
