You might be able to change the spark plugs without this socket but it would be very difficult. Very worthwhile purchase and I would recommend it. I did NOT find it cheaper online, go with advance auto.
It was my first time replacing spark plugs on a 2014 Civic. With a little PB blaster and this socket, the old spark plugs came right out. Add the cost of Autolite spark plugs and it's already paid off after one use by saving me money doing it myself rather than paying a mechanic.
The magnetic feature is very nice. Holds the plug firmly and no rubber piece to get stuck on the plug. Swivel allowed it to fit into the tight spots on my Subaru.
The right tool to avoid incorrect torsional stress that can cause damage. I already have the three main components of this 4-in-1 tool. The different factors combined make this a better solution. Works well.
This worked great, I did not use any lube and it came off without issue. It did not have any issue pulling the plugs back out either. Quality seems decent for a tool used occasionally.
Great improvement over the old school rubber gasket. I needed an extra extension to get all the way into my 2011 Camry (4 Cyl 2.5) , but not an issue.
The tool worked great in getting the last two plugs out of our 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Hemi. I tried everything 5/8 spark plug socket short Extention and a universal joint, could not get enough leverage loosen them.
Excellent quality and strong magnet. This is SO MUCH BETTER than the typical spark plug socket. Starting hard to reach plugs without stripping thread is easy and the swiveling 6" extension is perfect for most applications. This is really a must have and one of those 'How come I didn't own this sooner?' type of tools.
Magnetic socket was far better than the old rubber insert socket that I had that started sticking to the sparkplug end after it was screwed in. Extra confidence when you're working base on feel when trying to change the plugs facing the firewall on my Honda Odyssey. The swivel head helped to get the plug in position and had no issues with cross-threading the sparkplug when installing. Great purchase.
Magnetic holds spark plug very well. Especially handy to access plugs near firewall. 3/8 " drive with swivel near plug holder is great. 6 inch length is good to get to most recessed spark plug locations.
