Bought this iron followed the instructions, and the iron does NOT spit and does NOT LEAK as previously insisted through other reviews. The instructions clearly state to let the iron heat up completely until the light at the base of the cord is solid. It clearly states START IRON HEAT UP WITH STEAM SELECTOR TURNED COMPLETELY OFF- even has a little picture with steam and a gigantic X marked through it. If it's over the max line and your steam setting is turned to high, and it's not hot enough to create "steam" it's going to drip and pour out. The iron sitting upright on the base has a slightly tilted horizontal line at the MAX FILL position located on the side of the clear water reservoir. Because it does poise at a slight leaned back angle it gives you 100% view of where the water should rise too one its in an up right position. And it also states DO NOT USE BOTTLED WATER, WATER FROM REFRIGERATORS OR FILTERED WATER. The manual states it's designed to use tap water. You pay extra for the "ANTI-CALC VALVE" which removes calcium deposits if your tap water is hard. Use 50% tap and 50% distilled water for very hard tap water. If your clothes have yellow brown marks then turn down the heat. Only cotton can take high heat otherwise your burning fibers into the soleplate, essentially "scorching" the iron. www.t-falusa.com/instructions-for-use/products/Linen-care/Steam-iron/Steam-iron/Ultraglide-EasyCord/csp/2820449510 Click or copy paste the link. It's explains EVERYTHING literally (sorry for any typos using an iPad)
Best steaming iron I have ever owned. The ceramic sole is much better than a teflon coated sole. It glides effortlessly. And the volume of steam can't be rivaled. A best buy for sure.
This iron produces a lot of steam quickly. We have a top loading HE washer, that seems to set wrinkles in wrinkle resistant clothes. This is the first iron to Handel these wrinkles.
I researched carefully before buying this iron. I read many reviews. Recently, I've read a good review of the best irons at the http://topchoice.best/main-review/best-steam-irons. This review shows that T-fal FV4495 ultraglide is one of the best. I agree with their opinion! We love it so much! This iron has an ultraglide ceramic soleplate, the power of 1725 watts, an conventional thermostat dial control and anti-drip system. As for me, this iron is the best!
Easy to glide over clothes.lightweight, extra long cold z d easy to fill for stem.
Just got it and on the first and second day of using it it leaks when on the highest steam setting and when you hit the button to shoot a burst of steam it spits out a bunch of white flakes with the steam. Also when you hit the button to shoot a burst if steam it doesnt just shoot steam but also big drops of water and it was hot enough. The positves are that it has a bunch of nice features and one of the best is the ultraglide soleplate. It glides very easily. Also the plastic cover for the hole to fill the water up holds the water in with out leaking. My wife is less happy with it than I am. I think its an alright iron but nothing special. She thinks it is worth returning to the store.
Bought on Consumer Reports recommendation and would say it was a "generous" review. I have owned this product and used daily for approximately one week. It DOES "spit", at least on the maximum steam setting. It annoyingly seems to cycle on and off at low heat settings. However, it reaches its heating levels quickly and, so far, irons nicely overall. One minor but super-annoying build comment is the placement of the heat selector. I used to be able to dial the desired setting with my thumb while ironing in any position with my old iron. Because of the dial placement and the "height" of the handle on the T-fal, I have to physically set the iron down to adjust the temperature. Again, minor but annoying.
Maybe I have a lemon. When steaming and returning the the iron to upright position, it is loud. Doesn't always steam. Seems to have to reheat itself slowing the ironing process
Expected more for a iron at this price level. Leaks on first use and when i turned on the steam function, white flakes started coming out.
It leaks and drips ALL OVER THE PLACE. This is the fourth T-fal iron I have had in the last 20ish years. I have always LOVED them so I bought one again no question about it. I HATE this new one. I fill it to just short of the FULL line, plug it in, turn it on to linen/steam, slide the steam/dry bar to steam, make sure the water fill door is completely closed, wait for it to heat up good, tip it over and water drips all over the handle (to the point that I have concerns about being electrocuted). So I wipe it all down and try it again and sometimes it's better and sometimes it's not. I have always LOVED this iron because of the amount of steam you get out of it. Significantly more than most other irons so I try to put up with the leaking but I am just about done with it. It just does it too much and it scares me. I am sooooo disappointed in T-fal. I am going to dig out my receipt and see if I can still return it to Wal-Mart. If not I think I will box it up and send it to T-fal with no return address and tell them they can have it, I don't want their products anymore.....
