Easy to assemble, fits many different style feeders and bird houses. Has a hook and a screw on base.
I saw this at my local WalMart and decided to purchase it because of it's low price. My son helped me get it into the ground about two feet from my house on the edge of my flower bed. I get very strong winds at my home and was worried about it's stability, so my son attached a wire from the pole to a rain gutter on the house. So far so good. I also purchased the Garden Gazebo Birdfeeder sold on this website (and at my local WalMart) and to my surprise it mounted onto the top of the pole perfectly. I hung a suet bird feeder on one of the arms and saw that it gives the pole added stability. For the price, I am very happy with this purchase.
I have a heavy metal squirrel proof feeder I wanted to hang on the pole. I used electricians ties to hold the pole against my fence for support. It looks nice and it would work okay with a small plastic birdfeeder. I got what I paid for.
It was easy to assemble and put up, but seemed a little shaky. Reminds me of tent poles without the cording inside. Once I put the feeder on the pole, it seemed to provide more support. I bought it for school, and wasn't looking for top quality. Not bad for the price I paid for it.
I only had the pole up for about 20 minutes when a squirrel must have jumped on the top of the feeder and the entire pole fell over. We put it in the ground the recommended amount, but it was still wobbly. Maybe if it were cemented into the ground, that would work, but I wanted a no fuss bird feeder pole that would stay up easily.
Not to Walmart standards. Pole diameter a little small. I drilled holes into each section and installed sheet metal screws to stiffen the sections. I also placed a larger diameter pipe into the ground and then put inside the first section inside into the ground and then filled the pipe with clean fine sand and drilled a hole through both pipes and installed a long sheet metal screw. This makes a good rigid pipe which I installed a Blue Bird house. Would also be suitable for a bird feeder.
This product makes setting up harder then it should be. Due to the lack of stable grounding, one bird knocked it over. I was forced to move it several times ending in a location I was not happy with just to maintain its erectness. Hanging attachment does not sit firmly and fell off twice now. Only had product up for three days now.
You do get what you pay for in this instance. You're better off paying a little more & buying the $15 set from the store(Walmart). This set would not be a good choice for anything but the very lightest of houses or feeders. They'll last for a little while but I'll only be able to use them for finch feeders & wind chimes.
This is a rage against the poor quality of so many products on the market today. Charge what you have to to provide a product that actually does what you expect it to do. This bird feeder holder broke at the flange that connects the feeder to the top of the pole. Why? The "weld" that was intended to hold the flange to the pole was the smallest and most pathetic thing I ever saw. Of course it broke off. I will be taking this back to the store, but really, would it be so hard to use up one more thousandth of an ounce of material to make a decent connection? And buy the way, the metal is so cheap that it distorts when you try to pound it into the ground (using a wood block as recommended), making it a chore to connect the poles together.
Not very strong. Only good for a very small bird feeder. Over priced. Had to buy a stronger one at a feed supply store. It was a lower price for a lot better.
