Love this machine, only down side is the instructions leave a lot to be desired. I had to get on line and figure out how to do the buttonholes, but once I figured it out what a breeze. The machine runs smooth and I love all the different stitches. I haven't sewn anything yet, just playing around with the machine to get comfortable with, but looking forward to my next project.
I am so pleased with my new sewing machine. There are so many stitching options and I don't have to maintain this machine by oiling it, like my old machine.
I found this machine to be a great bargain, and it sets up like a breeze. Much of the machine was similar to my ancient Singer that I just discarded. Having sewn for my whole life I was happy to find the placement of things on the machine almost in the same spot I was accustomed to. It's lightweight to lift and carry. Highly recommend this machine. And the tension was spot on right out of the box!
We purchased this machine for my mother-in-law who was planning on having her worn out machine serviced. We felt it would be better for her to have a new one. We chose this model because we thought she would be overwhelmed with the choices on an electronic model (she is 84), although she insisted on its having an automatic needle threader! She is very happy with it, and the drop-in bobbin will be much easier for her, too. This should give her happy sewing for the rest of her sewing days!
My husband bought me this machine for my birthday in July of 2010. I am a self-taught sewer and quilter, and this machine was a GREAT way to learn. With so many stitch functions and awesome features, it's been a fun journey! The manual is very helpful, well-written in both English and Spanish. The Brother XL-3750 is great for beginners and more experienced sewers! Every birthday, holiday or special occasion, I've made gifts for family and friends with great responses! I have really enjoyed my machine and will continue to use it every day!
This is a great simple machine with lots of extras. the price was very reasonable and shipping was very fast. quicker than if i had it delivered to a store.
I have sewn everything from Levi blue jeans to dress shirts without any problems with the machine or the material. Initially it was difficult to get the needle threaded, mainly due to the small sizes of the needle's hole and the threading device involved, but after a few unsuccessful tries it wasn't a problem any longer. The "hidden" storage compartment under the operator's side of the machine is handy, but it would have been nice not to have to remove it in order to get the extender arm attached. This is a replacement machine for a much older Singer model that simply became worn out.
The only thing I have a problem with is when stippling a quilt ( Free Style)I am at a 9 the max in tension and still the upper tension is too loose.
Had to Change tension when quilting. Did a lot of taking out stitches. Had to remove the darning plate when using the quilting foot. It broke the top thread too often. The walking foot worked fine, but had to adjust the tension. Had a lot of taking out stitches. Guess that is the learning curve?? Loved the FREE shipping! We are isolated and the cost of driving to the nearest center makes this FREE shipping sooo attractive. Thank you. Shall definitely shop Walmart again. I have told friends of your wonderful service.
The machine is fine for the price. It's rather noisy and the tension adjustment is a bit touchy. I use it to take to a quilting group. ( I have another, better machine at home) It's fairly lightweight and it sews a straight stitch. That's all I need.
