This little machine far exceeded my expectations! I wanted to do small embroidery work, like initials, or a small logo - it does these well, and so much more. I absolutely love the download feature. I have purchased designs, and am thrilled with the detail. This machine is easy to use. I use SimThread to embroider.
I have had this machine for about 5 weeks and I absolutely love it. I am having so much fun. I sew anything and everything I can. This is the first machine I've been able to figure out. My "cheapy" Singer was less user friendly. I haven't even begun to explore all the options available. Threading is simple. A drop-in bobbin is the way to go. The machine gets a little loud and vibrates pretty good when used at top speeds, but that's nothing. Any problems I've had with tension have been due to operator error. The instruction guide is my sewing bible. I wish I could spend all day everyday sewing. Definitely my favorite item in the house.
So glad I purchased the SE400. It's a great way to get introduced to machine embroidery without having to commit to an embroidery-only machine. Extremely easy to learn and use! I highly recommend to sewing and embroidery newbies!
I just received my machine today and I am delighted with it. I still have a lot of reading to do, but I have gone through the DVD which is really informative and I have tried many stitches, the buttonholes and the embroidery feature. Everything works extremely well. I have to practice more on the automatic needle threader but I will master that soon I know. This is the best machine I have ever had. I have been sewing since I was in junior high school and this machine would have been a real asset back then. I monogrammed 3 towels and washcloths and they look great. I recommend this machine highly.
I bought this machine knowing nothing about sewing or embroidery. It was something I always wanted to learn but never got around to until recently. The onscreen directions helped me learn the basics of the machine and I have been off and running ever since
This machine is amazing..my husband gave it to me several years ago and I had never unboxed it until about a month ago, it is amazing and I cannot believe I waited so long for this wonderful machine that just about does everything you could ever want in a machine. I highly recommend it.
I have had this machine now only a month and a half, but I have put it through its paces. The needle threader is a dream! Best needle threader ever and I have a couple of machines of other brands with threaders. The machine is responsive, smooth, VERY quiet and does both sewing and embroidery well. Sewing on it is a charm! Really - the stitches are as good as any brand of machine, and I haven't needed to touch the tension setting for any of the projects I have done. It does free motion really nicely too and I didn't have to change the tensions for that either. I have used several different threads top and bottom on it and all does well. The light is rather dim, but I put LEDs in the harp, so it doesn't matter. I am a novice embroiderer and that is why I bought this machine - for the fun of a little embroidery, but now I love to sew on it! I wouldn't think this is a choice for a large free motioned quilt, since the harp is rather small, but for overall sewing and 4x4 embroidery you cannot go wrong with this machine.
I love to quilt. My first project was a crazy quilt for my son. Embroidered wolves and intricate machine stitching make this quilt a future family heirloom. My next project was for my granddaughter. She loves her reversible quilt. My SE400 machine embroideres beautiful designs collected from the internet. The self threading and thread cutting feature is wonderful. Having "sew much" fun in my craft room.
I love my new sewing machine! It was easy to get started on it. I love the embroidery and what that adds to my quilts! I am getting use to the features and look forward to spending many hours with my machine! The instruction book is easy to understand and very helpful!
I bought the se 400 because it threads the needle with a touch of a button and it works. I have never done embroidery so was a bit intimidated by it. I made a drawstring bag for my little granddaughters and put their names on each. It was easy. Filled them up with goodies and waiting to give them to each one
