With slime liners you will never get flats!

I have ridden a bicycle for over 15 years and I can tell you that if you don't have these in your tires you will get flats if you ride on the street. I have hit nails, thorns, glass, you name it and it never gets through these liners. It is really quite amazing how much better these work than kelvar, or other much more expensive reinforced liners for tires. If you think about it it makes sense, hard plastic will stop a nail or thorn better than a soft fabric that is meant for bullets. Your not shooting your tires with bullets... your stabbing them with small objects. A kevlar vest never stopped anyone from getting stabbed, why would it work for your tires? Anyway, long story short, buy these because they are cheap and work the best. Also they fit anything I've tried them in (from a mountain bike tire to even a 700C roadbike.)

Ever since I took off My training wheels at 6yo, I've been riding bikes as my main/only mode of transport. Over the past 18 years, I've had many flats, often when I'm what feels liek miles from a store/tire shop when flats occur. Now With Slime Tire Liners, flats are a thing of the past. Now I've noticed a few reviews mention about the liners causing flats, granted I had that problem too, until I figured out that it's the ends of the liners that can cause flats or the liner being out of position. Solution? Take off your tire, spare yourself about an hour, get your liners, some Super Glue, and some duct tape. Add a little dab of glue center of the inside of the tire, apply 1 end of the liner center and press firm for a few seconds. Once it dries, move over about 3-5" (depending on your tire size) and repeat by adding a dab of glue and pressing the liner to it. Be sure to line the liner flush with the inner part of the tire. Do this process til the liner lines center with the inside of the tire. Overlap the ends by about 4" and glue the two overlaps with ONE dab of glue. Apply a fair size of duct tape over the overlapping end of the liner, to prevent any edges from slicing the tube. Now just put your tire back on, make sure your tube is allined right (I usually air it up just enough so that I can adjust the tube proper) and Wala, your tire is now puncture proof. I've riden over everything from Nails, shards of glass, and thorns. Nothing has popped the tire. I just pull it out and go. Another helpful tip is use 20% thicker inner tubes, I recommend Hutchinson tubes (they're also sold at Walmart for about $7 each) and air up your tires (if you're using a 26") to about 75-80 psi (I know that's over the normal max) and your tires will stay strong and keep rolling; and don't worry about the tire exploding from the 80psi, I mountain/off-road on 90psi, and never once had a blow-out. Happy Riding!

Waste of money

Without it, I needed to replace my tube once every week thanks to thorns. With it, I had two flat tires in the first three days. The tubes slid so that the stem valves were pushed to one side so much that the rim simply cut open the bottom of the stem. I was not able to finish my one mile trip the first day. I pumped a lot of air to make sure they have no room to slide but the front tire went flat when I got home (luckily this time). Nevertheless, you have to consider this is my first pair of liners and I may not have installed them properly. Anyway, I am buying kelvar tires instead because I had good experience with it.

They actually cause flats

I've been a cyclist for more than three decades and have ridden with and without tire liners. These are without a doubt the worst liners I've ever had the misfortune of trying. I installed them as directed and made sure they were centered in my tires. On my first ride out I suffered a flat caused by the liner slicing into the tube. I replaced the tube and on my third ride with the new tube the exact same thing happened. Both tubes were unrepairable afterwards due to the length of the cuts. Twice, I submitted complaints on the Slime website, detailing my experiences and giving my contact information. I received no reply either time, although I was using their on-line form for this type of correspondence which states on it that they will contact you shortly. As I said, I've ridden with tire liners before and never had this problem. Mr. Tuffy brand is one that I've had good experiences with and I know there are others. I recommend checking out reviews on-line before buying. On one such site the Slime protectors were rated two stars while all others were rated four stars, apparently with good reason.

They didn't even last 1 ride.

My husband purchased the liners for my son's bike after getting two flat tires. The first ride we took after installing the liners, my son went off road abd got a small thorn in the tire, that punctured the liner and the tube. These liners were not worth the money!
