This set will last for years to come. The only problem I had was putting it together. The tool that came with it didn't last the entire time. Had to find other tools to finish the job.
The table and chairs are made of solid pine and are smooth with a very light, matte clear varnish. They will all look different because they are solid boards, but mine had some small knots on top. These were smoothed over, though. The top is not one solid piece of wood but actually several boards fused together to form a solid piece (like butcher block). These are incredibly sturdy pieces! I weigh 170 pounds and sat on the chair with no problem (aside for it being awkward sitting in a tiny little chair. It's very easy to put together. It took about 20 minutes to do the two chairs and table. The directions were very simple. All in all, I would definitely recommend this to anyone with a child between 1 1/2 to 5 years old.
We are delighted with this little table and chairs set. It is beautiful, sturdy, and exactly what we wanted. Our 22-month-old loves it now, and since it is just a bit big for him I know it will fit him for quite some time. It was not too hard to put together. We are very happy with this purchase!
I wanted a small table and chairs for my 2 year old grandson. This set is exactly what I had in mind. One of the reviews stated that the screw holes didn't line up properly, but that wasn't the case with this set. It went together easily. A review also said that the screw holes weren't large enough and that some of the peices split during assembly. I drilled the screw holes out a bit to assure there would be no splits. I also used a bit of white glue on the joints just to make everything stronger. My grandson immediately went to the table, sat down & started drawing. Just what we had in mind. Looks good, and appears to be sturdy.
My 2 yr old daughter loves this table. She got is Christmas morning and didn't leave it all day. I also love it. It's VERY sturdy!!!!!! My husband and I are both able to sit in the chairs, that's how sturdy they are. WE ALL LOVE THIS TABLE!
Before making this purchase I looked locally and on line atman different child size table sets and ordered this one because the measurements fit the size I wanted. It arrived very quickly and was easy to assemble but the best part is that the wood is solid and the surface of chairs and table are already nicely finished in a clear protective coat. The 2 small chairs fit beautifully under the table so when not in use they are can out of the way. Even though the chairs are small, they are so strong that I can sit next to my three year old grandson and share lunch, do crafts, and play games. He loves it and I know that once his younger brother is a bit older they will enjoy it together. Looking at the quality this is a great value for the money!
After 6 children and 14 grand children, I have purchased my share of table and chair sets. This is honestly, the best made set we have put together. We purchased the natural so scratches would not show. My husband says its maple, its so solidly made, has weight and it is gorgeous. The chair legs are splayed to prevent tipping. If you purchase this you will be amazed how well its constructed. This will be around a very long time. Easy directions.
Sent to 4 year old grandsons for Christmas. Great little set, sturdy with room to grow. Looks great and they love it. Too bad one of the pieces was missing and screw holes didn't line up. Thankfully, my daughter is a smart cookie and was able to drill new holes and assemble it anyway.
The table set is very sturdy and was not hard to put together. I was disappointed because of all the knot holes that does not show in the picture online. Online picture is of beautiful wood. The table top has 4 knot holes and the chairs seat, back and legs have knot holes. If you like more rustic, it should be ok for you, but I loved the smooth pretty wood in the picture and that is what I expected to get. I don't like seeing something online and then when it arrives it is not as pictured. If it is going to have knot holes, show that online as well. This was for my granddaughter for Christmas and I thought it was going to match her natural (smooth) bedroom furniture.
I have spent over 45 minutes trying to put together each chair. Parts are damaged and I"m very disappointed in this table. It seems sturdy and of good quality, IF you can get it put together. The tools they give you are tiny and dont work. Not to mention I had to spend over 40 dollars having the thing shipped. Don't waste your money.
