this is awesome well worth the money. i saw results with in 3 hours and i had a very rusted pair of nail pullers now like new.
received in at the right time
Removed about 95% of rust from some old vintage hand planes, railroad spikes, and other old metal. Would definitely buy again.
This stuff works miracles! I had a ton of different brands of socket heads that had a lot of rust accumulation and I let them soak for 24 hours and you would think that they were brand new! Great stuff!
Looks like water, no smell, not impressive out of the can. Just wait until you see what it does ! Like watching water boil, you don't really see it in action, just the results, and they are fantastic. Bought this heavy rusted vise at a yard sell. Look at it after 24 hours in dip. Too large to get it all in at once, so I'm flipping it each morning.
I found an old, porcelain Coke sign. The porcelain is in like-new condition; however, the original metal brackets were very badly rusted. I searched the internet for the best way to remove the rust. Acid was by far the best option, but there was a possibility that the acid would also eat through the metal. Then I saw that WD-40 SPECIALIST RUST REMOVER SOAK was the second best option. When I placed the sign in the tub to soak it; I thought to myself, this is like water, it is not going to do anything. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! After a few hours, the metal began getting rid of the rust. After 24 hours, the rust was all gone and my old sign was like new again!!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!! And the other great thing about WD-40 SPECIALIST RUST REMOVER SOAK is that I was able to pour the entire gallon back into the bottle to use again. Now how great is that?
I soak my old parts on my 1971 Chevelle wagon and they come off with a lot of ease now. Parts are salvageable for use by other owners.
I have used it once so far, soaking for 2 hours to clean some old tools salvaged through an estate sale. It did indeed clean the rust however, the drop-forged tools seem to have suffered some pitting that is reminiscent of long immersion in white vinegar or other weak acid solution. So that was a disappointment as the WD-40 product claims to be completely environmentally safe. As a note, items included were a 19th century Ohio Tool plane which was unaffected, several high quality and/or japanned black wrenches, and a half dozen or so "drop forged" wrenches dating to the early 20th century. The pitting was only seen on the unpainted, drop forged pieces. With that in mind, I would say that it is excellent on tempered an/or polished steel and painted items, but raw, unpainted iron, or low carbon steel, might be a caution.
Left some wrenches and parts in the solution for around a week, nothing really changed.
I soaked this chain two days, did not do much. It was a waste of money and time!
