I am only able to compare this gear oil to a leftover quart of Lucas I had from changing my font diff oil. I upgraded the gearing to 4.88 on my truck and this oil looks to be a winner. I did have to add the LSD modifier for my old first gen Ram. Check your manual for your application. I can't wait to see how it holds up. Already sounds way better.
The shop at the business I work for uses this as they maintain their own fleet. I spoke with the personnel and they agreed to help me with this review as I personally had no use for it. They said that this is a very good quality gear oil. Normally they use a cheaper brand due to the quantity but they jumped on the chance to be able to have Valvoline in some of the vehicles. This is not really an item that you can review quickly and talk about the lasting effects so I will not attempt that. I know I have been trusting this brand for my personal oil changes for many years. I like that it comes in easy to use pouches that are very durable and should not leak.
The gear oil arrived very well packaged and undamaged. I'm going to start right off with a personal opinion: Valvoline is a brand that can always be trusted to provide great service. I've use Valvoline for many years in many different kinds of vehicles. I've used Valvoline gear oil many times and have always been happy. This is the first time I've used it in the squeeze pouch. The squeeze pouch is really handy when you are under your vehicle without much space to work. Something that I did do to make it easier was I put a small vinyl tube over the nozzle. This gave me a lot more room to work. I use Valvoline oils here in the Arizona desert, where temperatures often go over 110 degrees. The best I can tell you is that I've never had a gear box or motor fail. I've never noticed any noise from my differentials. My manual transmissions have always worked very well. I understand that the oils work just as well in cold temperatures, but I don't have any first hand experience with that. I would recommend Valvoline oils to anyone who likes to keep their vehicles in top running condition.
Replacing the gear oil in your vehicle is something most people neglect or don't ever think about. My truck is 16 years old and I thought it was time for some new gear oil. I watched some videos on how to perform the job and everyone of the videos showed how hard it was to access the fill hole. They all used some type of gear oil pump that you had to pour the gear oil into first and then pump it into the fill hole. You don't need any of that with this gear oil. The flexible squeeze pouch made it easy to insert the nozzle into the fill hole and do the job. And my fill hole was not as accessible as was shown on the videos. This is the recommended gear oil for my truck and I went with Valvoline because of their excellent reputation..IMO. I was not noticing any unusual noises such as grinding or ticking in the gear box area. The transmission slips a little bit now and then. Also, I had no leaks around the gear box area. I just believed the gear oil replacement was a good idea considering age of truck. This product is not something you see immediate results with. It is a maintenance item and I am sure I have extended the life of my truck with this gear oil.
I needed some Rear end oil for my 2012 Nissan Frontier. I have always trusted and used Valvoline for the past 40 years, so naturally I went with this Syth Flew 75-95w Valvoline gear oil. It works out great, easy to put in the filler cap, just make sure the oil is a bit thick before you try to put it in. Here in Phoenix, the hot weather can thin it out pretty fast, even sitting in the container.
I'm not a big five-star review type of guy! But when you come across a product of this quality and witness the protection that it provides I'm not by any means of paid Valvoline employee or spokesman or anything else but I will tell you there is no better product on the market than Valvoline gear oils motor oil and pretty much any other lubricated product they manufacturer. I have been in the automotive business for 22 years I have used Valvoline products in my vehicles for even longer. I've seen motors come out of vehicles that have had cheap or non-name brand motor oils ran in them compared to engines that have had Valvoline ran in them and the sludge comparison is off the charts. Back to this Valvoline gear oil when you do a rear differential or front differential service and go to fill it up with fluid when you're done with the service you either have to get online to buy a contraption to attach to your bottle to make sure you get all of the product you paid for into the differential or cut vacuum line or rubber line to attach to the end of the bottle to try and get as much of it in the differential as you can which can be extremely difficult underneath the vehicle especially if you're doing it in your driveway on your back. But even if you have your vehicle up on a hoist and you're underneath there the bottle doesn't have room to be put upside down and squashing into the vehicle these gear oil in a bag or whatever you want to call them is a brilliant idea a friend and I for years have thought about how could these gear oil manufacturers come up with something to make it easier to get the product in the differential from packaging to differential leave it up to Valvoline for the brilliant idea that they have come up with here I would highly recommend this product to my friends and family I apologize ahead of time for this extremely long review however I'm extremely excited for this product and I can't express how easy it is to use this product not only is it easy to use but you don't end up throwing product away like you do in the plastic bottles when you can't get all of it out into the differential or gearbox that you're working on you can squeeze almost every drop out of this packaging it's a brilliant invention hats off the Valvoline and keep up the hard work!
I guess it's good. I'll have to ask my rear end in 50 k or so how it feels. No unusual noises. Squeeze bottles are a nice way to do this task. Walmart shopping is as fast and reliable as the space man's company is -- maybe faster for this order. thank you
Valvoline Full Synthetic Gear Oil is a superior sulfur-phosphorus high pressure gear lubricant. Worked well on my neighbor's car so far. Hard to review this early in the testing process. Recommended for conventional and limited slip differentials and non-synchronized manual transmissions where API GL-5 or API GL-4 fluid is specified. Viscosity is 75-90. Good quality for the price. Valvoline has good track record.
I ordered (5) 75w-90 feral oil packs and received only four because I was sent (1) 75w-140 instead see picture below. Just been a little busy haven't had time to make my way to Walmart.
I didn't get what I ordered. I ordered 3 75W-90 quarts. I got two of them and one is the wrong one. The one incorrect is a 75W-140. This would be detrimental to my vehicle if I put it in without noticing!
