I have borrowed pressure washers for years, and finally decided to break down and buy me one. I have used just about all the major names mostly 2,800 PSI. So I researched the heck out of it and made a list of want I wanted in a pressure washer and the search brought me to me to this unit. First off, read the instruction manual. It covers a lot, and not all are made the same. I read some reviews that say it leaks water, shakes a lot and shuts down. Now to address them, this is a "cold water" pressure washer so if you stop using it for a long time the water gets hot and the pump will release it through a outlet that makes it look like it is leaking but its not. On my first use the it shut down twice and shaked a lot. But I found out that if you put gas in fast it makes the tank appear full but its not so it shuts down soon then one would expect. The shaking stopped on my second use. I guess it is kind of a break in thing. I don't notice it anymore unless the ground is really uneven, So far I have used it to remove the wood stain off my wood siding, clean the patio, my children's play toys, and wash some yard equipment. I have to say I am very impressed with the power. It cuts through most things like nothing with out damaging the main surface (as long as you use the correct nozzle). FYI stay away from the red one. So far I have found that 3100 PSI is more then enough to do the job. I'm afraid any higher and it would damage my surfaces. I am impressed how easy it starts. I think it fired right up on the second pull right out of the box, and I cant recall having to pull more them three times to start it. Its fairly quite compared to most of my other gas power tools. An oil checks on both sides are a super plus. I like that this unit sits up tall and has waist level handle, so I don't have to bend down to move it. The wheels are not the best but id prefer a quality motor over rubber wheels. So far I am averaging about 1hr on a tank of gas maybe a little better. I wont wear my watch when i use it so that's a round about. its easy to fuel and I love the all metal gas tank. Just a FYI use quality fuel and a fuel stabilizer to help protect it during the times when your not using it a lot. I always turn my fuel off to dry the carburetor out so it don't gum up. Gas with lots of ethanol is not small engine friendly. It was very easy to put together and included more them enough oil to fill it up. FYI they give you more then the amount required of oil so don't pore the whole bottle in. After your fist time using it the oil will be a little low so you will have to add some (not much, but that is normal after the oil works its way into the motor). The sprayer unit is nice and to me is comfortable to use. The only improvement I would suggest is a second rod that is longer. But over all its a solid unit and I like it. The pump is easy to drain and anit freeze was just as easy to put in.
I had been looking for a power washer for awhile did my research and found the Generac 3100 PSI and it had really good reviews. Used it to clean our driveway and it works great. Very easy to use.
I got exactly what I wanted with this pressure washer. It really exceeds what I expected. I cleans pretty good with just cold water. I haven't used soap with it yet, but will next week to clean my pontoon boat that has been in the lake for a year. The build up on the pontoons is hard to get off, but I think it will do well on them.
I don't have a lot to compare this to but will just provide my opinion on this machine alone. Easy assembly, no tools required. Strong machine, haven't even used the 2 most powerful nozzles yet. Quieter than I expected, easy start up, convenient hose holder and gun holder. Used it on my wood deck and cement pool deck. Stripped the mildew and dirt away effortlessly. My only negative, and this doesn't even impact the performance of the machine is the wheels seem a little flimsy, not as sturdy as I would have expected.
I actually like this power washer. Easy to assemble and use. Good power. It arrived in the time promised and appeared shipped in the box undamaged. However, as I was putting it away after the first time I used it, I noticed that it was leaking gasoline. I don't know if it was from the gas tank seam (a two piece metal gas tank with a crimped edge seal. Really ???), or from the place where the tank bolts to the engine frame, but it's an annoying drip. I immediately drained the tank and contacted Generac. Their return email said that it would have to looked at by a certified dealer and pointed me to their website to get a list of dealers. Their website listed a few local dealers that supposedly handled warranty work. But the list is not up to date. One place didn't handle warranty work unless it was bought from them, another no longer carried power washers. I finally called Generac, and the person there was nice enough give me some more names (not listed on their site) and even called them to verify that they would look at my washer. So it is now dropped off and I wait for the verdict. ......
Item arrived in what appeared to be great shape. Thee were no tears or wholes in the box. I removed the washer as the instructions stated and assembled the unit. I filled the unit with oil and then followed the start-up procedures in the instruction manual. I pulled one time and it seized. I called Generac the next day and took the unit to the certified Generac repair facility. After 30 minutes of examination, they discovered that the connecting rod was broken and the engine would have to be rebuilt or replaced. The shop mechanic also pointed out that the engine did not have a low oil shut-off and was very surprised since almost all of the motors they work on, now have these safety sensors. I have returned the unit to Sams and plan to purchase the Simpson instead.
