The more I travel the more I depend on my GPS and I appreciate the features the 9490T-LMB 7" has. I have used a lot of different GPS over the years but this one has work the best for me when I am traveling in my RV.
I used it out west and back, the only thing I didn't like was it took me off the main highway, we ended up on a torn up side road to save 2 miles in distance for the fastest route. I can not get it to accept my registration either.
Once I downloaded the instruction manual, I was able to use this device. I really like the large screen and directions it gives. It would be nice to have a complete instruction manual with it. I do not like the mounting brackets. They don't seem to want to stick on the dash very well.
I do not have a lot of experience with GPS and this is only the second one we have owned. I thought the newer version would be easier to use when planning a route but it still is not as user friendly as say google maps where you can just move the route to the way you want to go. That is my biggest problem with using it. So far I have found that for some reason it does not have Canadian National Park campgrounds it it!!!
I got this as a replacement for a different gps at the end of it's warranty and it is refurbished. Sometimes it turns on and then shuts down, sometimes it loads for 10 - 15 minutes, sometimes it just shows squiggly lines, and the bluetooth doesn't work. Buyer beware
I drove on the interstate and kept track of my location but when I got off, it said I was driving on a unnamed road that has been there for over 40 years! This happened in Alabama. I then drove again in Indiana on an interstate, then got off and drove on a US highway going north through Indiana. It then came back and said I was somewhere in Tennessee!
Brought for summer and ended up returning 3 time, got back in winter. Every single time stop working in first start attempt. Software got crashed while updateting. Don'tbuy this product.
When I first used the GPS it worked very well. However, we just returned form a six week trip in our RV. The GPS kept shutting off and reloading. Sometimes when it did this it did not turn back on. At that point I did not turn back on manually until we stopped. We got home this afternoon at which point I tried to do an update and wouldn't even do that. At this point in time I am very dissatisfied with the unit.
I went as far as to sign on line and download the complete manual on the RoadMate. I still can not get to the screens I want when we are traveling. It is a difficult GPS and does not meet any of the expectations we had when we purchased this pricey GPS.
bought the unit for cross country trip from NH to Ca. with the motorhome we drove 3,800 hundred miles it gave wrong directions five times then it froze up still not in Ca. tried everything to make it work, even reset it to factory settings it did not work left it on drove 800 more miles started working for 200 miles froze up started working again when leaving Ca. 3 days later. worked for a day and a half froze up again. did not work for the rest of the trip.
