Husband had no problems using this kit to switch our camper over to electric. Everything there to do the job quickly. Took awhile to heat the water but works great. Would definately buy again.
This is perfect for heating water in my travel trailer. The campgrounds I use provide electricity at no extra charge so it just made sense to convert my water heater from propane to electric. My brother did the installation for me and it was very easy. I've got the setting very high and the water is actually too hot to use without adding some cold water. Since I have no small children who might be at risk for burns this works for me. My reasoning for having the water this hot is that I can add a lot of cold water and very little hot water when showering. This gives me enough hot water to last throughout my shower. I've seen in some of the reviews from a few years ago the complaint about the heater switch being lighted when off and not lighted when on. This must have since been corrected because my light is on when the water heater is on. I would highly recommend making this conversion if you are currently using propane to heat your water. This will pay for itself with just a few camping trips.
Received pump on time and installed next day. It is not easy to install on your RV as the 120 vt. electrical hook up is hard as you will need electric close to water heater. The kit had everything in it but I had to lengthen on of the wires from the heat probe to the 120 vt. cable due to location restrictions.
Easy installation and works great.. On my recent camping trip, I never had to use my gas.
This product was easy to install. Only negative is that my switch is set up backwards. The light is on when not heating and off when heating. I had no faith in this product after trying to heat water for hours. I turned off light/switch and left. I forgot to turn off the breaker or unplug camper as I would be gone 4th of July wknd. I had decided to install a new water heater. When I got back thinking the water heater was off I tried the water anyway and was scalded. Light should be on when heating. It works great. I have a gas only water heater. I only use this electric method now. I have recommended this to many ppl now.
I purchased a 5th wheel RV to spend a year traveling the states. One "con" to the trailer is that the Atwood 16 gallon water heater was propane only; no electric heat capability. Propane is costly, and I found myself taking fewer showers in the trailer and making the trip to the local bath house more frequently just to "save the cost of the propane". Since I spend the majority of my time on a full power pad, it made sense to purchase this upgrade. After reading the directions, ensuring all the parts were accounted for, and rounding up the necessary tools, the install commenced. Short and sweet, an hour later the unit was plugged in. An hour later I checked my hot water supply and the temperature was coming up. Three hours later the temp was stabilized, the included thermostat had cut off at my preset temperature, and I got a great shower with no temperature variations. In fact, I had set the thermostat too high and have since had to reduce the thermostat setting to something less scorching. The heater DEFINITELY WORKS and kicks butt. My only complaint with the unit is that the on/off switch is illuminated when the switch is in the "off" position. My experience with other switches like this are that they are illuminated when they are turned to the "on" position. The issue is not in the schematic or wiring, as I reversed connections on the unit and still had the same results.
Simple design with minimal work. Very good directions with all color coded wires. The wires were not quite long enough for MY installation but was quality wire that was easy to splice.
Received on time. Easy to install. Works great. I would recamend to anyone looking for a safe and adequate alternative to replacing the whole unit. And saving several hundered dollars. Mike. Tri citys wa.
Came with faulty heater cartridge
The element in this package is a lot shorter than other brands and it's not an pluggable type which makes it harder to remove for wintertime storage in northern freezing climates that I have purchased before I do not like this brand
