With regard to the post on 11/14/2009, you undoubtedly melted the voice coil. This driver is rated for 250 Watts. You stated you connected it to a 300 Watt power amp. You should never connect a speaker to an amp where the rated power of the amp is greater than the handling power of the speaker, at the same ohm rating on both, car audio is typically 4 ohms. In this case your driving a 250watt speaker with a 300watt amp. Ideally the power rating of the amp and speaker should be the same, or the speaker rated for more power than the amp. these rate 1000 watts peak power...this is only for very short bursts of sound and not continuous power levels.
This sub sounds great in my Crown Vic. I actually read the specs and hooked it up to my ((((250w)))) Rockford Fosgate amp. The reason your sub blew is because you exceeded the RMS wattage or you had the incorrect ohm settings. I highly recommend this product.
I hated it. bought it and hooked a 300 watt amp to it lasted about 2 weeks before it blew it wouldnt even make a sound just fried it. it says it holds up to 1000 wats the only way i think it will work is to hook it direct to a cd player with no amp. and still then id be worried that it would blow just stay away frow this you are better off with someone banging a drum in the back seat
i bought this but after a couple days blew! the amplifier that i used was suitable for it, RMS everything was matching but for some reasons blew the sub! and the depth is only 6" so not worth of your money. and description says 250 RMS 1000W max bridged i dont think its even 150 RMS...
