This is a very good product, easy to install. The only problems I read people had was due to there bad install. The directions were not as clear as they could be was that I read on here camera needs to be on video 2. I also have my indash DVD hooked to video 1 so can watch a movie in it as well. Works great day or night makes towing and hitching the trailer easy. Only thing I didn't like is the camera mount was not reversible so you are limited on how has to be mounted or picture will be upside down. I solved this problem by making my own adapter out of an angle bracket easy fix. No need for professional install if can put radio in can do this
I have to write this review, as the first customer to review this didnt properly install this unit and gave it a bad review. Unfortunately the improper installation was probably not entirely his fault as he is correct in stating that the instructions were very vague. My personal experience with this product and installation was great and everything was as described. Worked perfectly,turned on and off automatically like it was supposed to, and went to the correct screen everytime. There was some confusion as the mirrors default power-on input is input 2, when generally you would assume the default power-on would be input 1. Great product,looks and works great, but i wouldn't suggest "Self-Installation" for anyone who doesnt have previous experience with automobile audio,electronics, or wiring.
I purchased this mirror at half the price of a Gentex model hoping it had similar features but it doesn't. It seemed to have pretty good quality, but it did not meet my needs. It is a full replacement mirror and looks almost like OEM in my truck, but to make the reverse monitor function, you have to manually turn the mirror on each time you start the car. The monitor will then give you a blue screen until you put it in reverse, at which time you will get the camera image. When you shift out of reverse, you get the blue screen again until you turn it off. I was looking for one that came on automatically when I went to reverse, and disappeared when I shifted out. Some people will like the way this mirror operates, but not me. Also, the directions were pretty vague and I never did figure out one of the 3 buttons on the mirror. When the mirror is off, you can still see the outline of the monitor. It wasn't bad and I think you could get used to it, but it never disappeared like the OEM models do. The thing that looks like a microphone in the photo was not part of the mirror package or function that I received. It has two video inputs if that matters to anyone. I hope this helps you evaluate the mirror. I returned mine to the store. The price is right if the function of the mirror meets your needs.
