Performs and has the features of the expensive food processors. I and my husband(retired Air Force Officers) are volunteer cooks and feed 50 to 75 Gen R's at the Florida Irish-American Society Lunch and Dance every week. I have one of these at home and one at the Club Kitchen. We only charge $5 for a four course complete home-cooked lunch and must watch costs - this product has been a life-saver. It does all our chopping, slicing, shredding and is indispensible. It is equal to(maybe even better than) more expensive processors. A WalMart Super Value!!!
The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth actually lives up to all the expectations that you start having after reading all the good reviews about it. It does all that it promises to do. The quality of plastic is very good and so are the blades. I hardly ever need to use Speeds 3 and 4. The 1st 2 speeds usually do all the chopping and mincing for me. Cleaning it otherwise is easy except that sometimes there are pieces of veggies stuck in the expandable chute which you have to clean manually. But for all the work that it does, this is a small price to pay. And speaking of price, the best part about this product is that it is economical, yet as efficient as any higher priced food processor. I would highly recommend it.
I have to honestly say that this food processor was worth my money. Which by the way was not expensive compared to some of the others I had look at. I had a BIG project in which involved a lot of potatoes, and other spanish vegatables that you would normally grate the old fashion way (using the old grater). It did its work with very few small pieces that did not process but it was still a great relief to know I did not have to grate by hand! Its worth the money!!!
just received the food processor. after a few uses i can safely pronounce it a very good value. works very well. good industrial design...bowl is well secured to the processor itself. blades good. easy to use. in short..a solid competitor to cuisinart at a fraction of the price. this unit was recommended by money magazine as a good value and i am thrilled with it. many thanks.
As far as food processors go, I think this one is probably the most practical and easy to use and the large mouth is really cool. Less work in the prep. The bowl is huge and I can make a double batch of bran muffins (24) in the blink of an eye. I would reccomend this to anyone.
This is a wonderful food processor, but the BOWL AND LID ARE NOT DISHWASHER SAFE LIKE IS ADVERTISED ON WALMART'S WEBSITE. I put my bowl and lid in the dishwasher and now they don't fit together. I called Hamilton Beach and they will not replace the lid and bowl under the warranty because they are not responsible for what Walmart recommends to do with their product. They said the owner's manual says to wash in warm water. A new bowl and lid is costing me $19.00.
I've owned many processors in the last 5 years. I've went from the under $30 Black and Decker models to the Cuisinart 11 cup, which ran me about $100. The B&D models last roughly, 3 months. The cuisinart? Replacing parts on it costs MORE than the machine! The Hamilton Beach Big Mouth has everything you need, at a great price. Slicing whole foods like cabbage, tomatos, apples, lemons, and shredding things like cheese, chocolate, carrots, lettuce...all a breze with this machine! I'm definately giving these as Christmas gifts this year!
After mixing and kneading 6 cups of flour dough and chopping 4 pounds of beef in a few minutes, I knew I had a winner. The only objection I have: it's too tall to store.
I've had this food processor for about a month now and have used it for many things. I really like the suction cups that hold it firmly to the counter top. However, grating cheese in the big mouth food tube did prove to be a problem even though I did freeze it first to firm it up. The cheese tilted sideways due to the extra width of the food tube and did not turn out a good result. I have yet to try slicing potatoes or tomatoes so I don't know how it would work with them. I may come back to write another review after trying that. But overall, I found this appliance easy to use, to clean and enjoy.
I got the big mouth food processor as a gift, it lasted 3 months I used it 5 times then the motor died. Save your money. I am glad I didn't buy it. As a raw food chef, at the culinary institute we used the cuisinart and now i know why, the other brands arn't built to last.
