I did a lot of research on coffee makers that were dispenser style and after reading all the reviews and going on Consumer Reports and finding this coffee maker was in the top 2 best coffee makers ..we ordered it and man are we happy..I love that you can make the strength stronger because my husband and I love strong coffee..and because it has that option we are saving in coffee because we used to have to put extra in there just to make it strong enough. I love not having a glass carafe to worry about breaking when I am washing it..This is just a great great product!
SO glad I finally broke down & got a new coffee maker. Don't hesitate to buy this unit, it makes excellent coffee & is simple to use. Price shop as cost varies & Walmart had the lowest price. It takes a bit to get used to not having a carafe, but don't worry, you won't miss it a bit. Reviews were helpful that clarified there are 2 or 3 vry similar units, that do not all work equally well & some leak a lot. Make sure you get model # 47454 Deluxe Brewstation (12 cups on my unit). Built pretty well, mostly plastic. I haven't had any leaking. Follow the directions & clean out each day, the main unit the coffee brews into is handwash only. You can set the prog timer, coffee brews, then keeps warm up to 4hrs, with NO burnt taste, imagine that. Finally, my husband can have coffee at 6am & mine is piping hot/fresh @ 7am, but is still great 3 hrs later if you want! Also, it's tall enough to get most tall travel mugs under. I looked at a more expensive Cuisanart unit, but Consumer reports rated this one very high. Enjoy :)
I have searched high and low for just the right coffee maker and this is it. I am notorious for breaking the carafe's of your run of the mill versions. No bitter taste to the coffee if it sits awhile in the BrewStation Deluxe. Coffee stays fresh and hot for up to four hours. Very easy to use, a breeze to fill the water chamber since it swivels, plus the entire thing has little casters so it can roll toward you on the counter, instead of having to maneuver under the upper cabinetry. A great product, best coffee maker I've ever owned!
This is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. I spent two weeks researshing coffeemakers. Reading specs and reviews on them all. If You've got the time read what makes a good coffee maker; It's not the price. Consumer Reports listed this maker as number 1 comparing it to Cusineart and others. A few reviews on the web will tell you this maker leaks. Other sites will explain this is caused by using multiple filters and/or very fine coffee which will cause the filter to get cloged. Pros: No carafe to break or hold. Simply press your cup against the back like a fountain. Cons: Top of maker must be disambled to make coffee.
After years of using standard coffee makers, we were ready for a change. My wife and I both liked the concept of the Brewstation and my wife bought us the "Summit" model. That model seems to be the common model found in stores and it was a disappointment as the spout was too close to the coffee maker and dispensing into any type of cup caused spills. This "Deluxe" model however, does not have that issue. It also has the nifty casters (which seem to be designed to just rotate the coffee maker) but are effective in helping handle the coffee maker under a cabinet. The fill windows, dispensing, assembly, and controls are all pretty intuitive. With this model we have been totally pleased. It's easy to manage, sharp looking, and best of all... good "no burnt" coffee for up to 4 hours. Love it!
We love our new "Brew Station". Our friend had one, but we had to wait for our old coffee maker to go to "coffee heaven" before we got a new maker. Finally one morning our old maker did not work. We were so excited, we were finally going to be able to get the Brew Station. We just like it so much!
I had purchased the FIRST brew station when it came out and was very disappointed. BUT this new model is terrific. no drips or leaks, just good coffee.
This is my second Hamilton Beach coffee machine of this model. The first still works after 6 years but has become v. slow in brewing and even filling the cup. It was super great to have the new one brew 10-12 cups in just minutes and fill my cup in seconds! Yahoo says this old girl. Anyhoo, the only thing different I WILL do this time is do the once/month white vinegar rinse. Have no clue if this will ensure longer life, but heh...methinks that after 6 years the other one did pretty remarkable anyways. Buy it you'll like it...oh and I did forget the other mention... Walmart was around $20 cheaper than the brand-name website...sad, isn't it? But, v. glad Walmart is my store.
After doing much research to replace my Cuisinart coffeemaker and seeing that Consumer Reports rated the Hamilton Beach 12-cup BrewStation Deluxe above all other coffeemakers, I found the best price at Walmart online. When I got it home, I followed all the instructions about cleaning and preparing it to brew by running plain water through a couple of cycles to remove any oils. Each time, the unit leaked. It was wrapped up and returned to the store for credit. No problem. Still needing a coffeemaker, I did more research and still found the highest recommendations for this particular Hamilton Beach so I ordered another one and will test it this weekend. Fingers crossed I'll have positive comments for the product next time. I cannot recommend it at this time.
I've owned this coffeemaker twice, and both have developed the same leak. Initially, I thought this abnormality was isolated, until it happened on the second coffeemaker also. The leak is located over the coffeemaker's heating element. Brewed coffee drips downs into the water reservior--where it should never be-- and eventually out of the bottom onto the countertop. What a mess! This leak is slow but steady. The clean up is constant. This is an excellent coffeemaker in every other aspect, but one cannot ignore the major flaw: It leaks! Buyer beware, folks.
