The fan on low is exceptionally quiet. I like the placement of the lights close to the front of the stove. I do wish the range hood had been designed to use low energy bulbs instead of halogens but the two light settings provide flexibility and good quality light.
First off, a basic vent hood in white is an endangered species. Due to our kitchen configuration, that was all we could use, without major renovations. We decided on this model because it was the best looking of a slim field. Now that the kitchen is done - it was the perfect choice. Much more pleasing than the very basic model, without a large price increase. I'd read some complaints about the sound level, but I don't find it all that bad. It's a fan after all, and fans make noise. Only small knock I would put on it is that I wish the light sockets were slightly deeper to fully enclose LED bulbs. But, after a few weeks, you don't even notice that anymore. Good job, Broan!
After using this item for a few months, have been very pleased with it's performance. Like the 2-stage options for the fan/vent (whisper-quiet on low, a little loud on high#, as well as for the lighting #hardly ever need/use the high setting for the light).
This replaced a previous Broan hood that was hit by lightening. This one, although not as expensive as previous, is a much better hood. It is silent, and with the halogen lamp provides excellent light and functions properly.
Overall I'm very happy with this product, 1 minor issue, the fan seems a little out of balance at times it makes the lights vibrate slightly. I would also recommend doing away with the light bulbs called for and have the manufacturer change them to LED. They get very hot and can cause burns if touched.
Price was right and easy to install if you know a little about electricity. It did as advertized. Most of the material was stainless steel and easy to clean. The Lighting is adequate. Hopefully it will last a long time.
My brother recommended this product to me. He just upgraded his. At first, I was skeptical, but gave it a try. It works well, a little noisy. Overall, it is acceptable and get the jobs done....
Possibly it was our particular configuration, but I found the installation to be extremely awkward and difficult. In addition, in order to draw from the front burners of the stove, it is necessary to have the unit on high, which, of course, is louder. I think most people use the front burners of the stove most often. I actually have a black hood, not stainless steel. It is very easy to keep clean, so far and is attractive (not overly shiny).
The lights on this product don't work. We've had it a year and will have someone come in and inspect it. The fans were fine and not a problem. The lights are also difficult to replace.
I installed this unit myself and it worked great for a year and a half. It had great features, looked nice, and although it took a while to put in, it wasn't too difficult. Now the fan does not operate and the original 1-year warranty has expired. So we are looking at diagnosis costs and replacement of either the control switch, fan motor, or transformer. Given the costs of doing this it may actually just be easier and more cost effective to replace this entire unit with a new one. I didn't expect to be doing this after purchasing what I thought was a quality product.
