I really like this range hood. The fan is powerful and removes smoke and oders efficiently. It is very noisy on the high setting; but it quickly removes smoke and oders.
We really like the automatic feature where it comes on when necessary. And we like the halogen lights on it. My old one had regular light bulbs and I can see so much better while cooking with the lighting on this one. Installation was fairly quick. The sound level is fine on this model. I would definitely purchase this one again.
I purchased this unit to replace my older QS2 range hood. Unfortunately that unit expired. I liked it so much that I ordered this unit. It was a drop in for me since all I had to do was configure the internal exhaust damper to exhaust to an out door vent. They must've done something to the unit since it's quieter than the older unit. The exhaust works great and does a good job of removing any smoke from the range area and sending outside. I will recommend this unit to all who are looking for a good range hood.
Whoever designed the light bulb component of this unit never had to change the bulbs. It is a totally stupid design. Other people have had questions and the answers on line are completely useless directing us to the web site for an answer. Solely based on this feature I would not recommend this product.
I bought this range hood to match my new stainless appliances. It turns on automatically if it senses a need, and boosts itself up a notch if needed as well. The led lights have dimmer settings, and light the stovetop brightly at the highest settings. It has been easy to clean, no streaking, and the filter pops right out to wash in the sink. It was a great purchase.
This product is awesome! Not only does it look elegant, but the features are wonderful. Operation is simple. Just a one finger touch on the control panel turns everything on, from the exhaust fan, to the dual lights. There are three exhaust removal levels, plus a boost level, for those extreme situations. The dual lighting has three settings - low, medium, and high. This feature allows great brightness for cooking, while the low setting allows for a cozy ambiance. The bottom of this exhaust hood is completely closed off, unlike some other models. This sleek-looking feature makes for easy clean-up. The filters, two of them, are located on the bottom as well. They easily pop in and out when cleaning is necessary. Don't worry; an indicator light tells you when to clean them! I believe this product would be a great addition to any household kitchen.
Installation was a little confusing at first since I wanted to vent it internally. The options and performance are great except that when venting indoors , the air flow is too restricted. It is quiet and effective if vented outdoors.
Overall the product is good. I had a professional electrician do the removal of the old hood and installation of the Broan. He and his helper carefully followed all the directions and remarked that it was not a simple installation. When it was complete, the test revealed a problem with the fan. The hood had to be completely removed, and it was found that the fan housing was loose on its plate. The electrician had to disassemble the fan unit (which was supposed to be installed as is) and tighten the bolts on the housing, then reinstall the hood. This added about an hour to the time and cost me more than should have been. I think the lights work very well, but on fan speed 2 there is no air flow into the hood from the right side of the stove which is where the burner I use most is located. Time will tell if this will be a problem.
I have used this fan to remove smoke when roasting coffee. It does a good job, but probably wasn't designed for that much smoke. Still, I have never had smoke alarm go off.
My installation was a bit difficult due to the infrastructure around the fan did not provide adequate mounting points and needed to be shimmed. When finished the installation looked good and fit well in the space where the old one was. I installed it to exhaust the air outside. I had to seal off some of the exhaust pathway inside the fan to prevent the air from going where it should not. Some of the air is still blowing back out into the kitchen because the screws holding the sheet metal around the lights do not tighten in their holes. Therefore there is a gap through which air leaks back.I used all the parts which came with the unit. The holes and screws are not a match.
