At seventy one years old with physical limitations I found the installation of the Bars to be straight forward and very simple. The appearance is great and provides a much needed assist for entry and exit from the cab of my 2500 Chevy. Could not be more satisfied, absolutely no surprises or disappointments.
The Nerf Bars look great but the Directions are lacking severely. Took me about an hour and a half for my buddy and I to get them mounted up. Would be much easier if the brackets that you mount to the truck were labeled as to where they went (Front, Middle, Or Rear) as they look VERY similar and caused some frustration and confusion thinking I received the wrong product. But after some trial and error moving the brackets around I was finally able to get them mounted and they look GREAT!
Ordered the steps on a Saturday night they were delivered by Wednesday. Which was great except when I went to install them on Saturday I was missing brackets. Called them that same day. It has been a week and a half and I still do not have my brackets. Would like to be able to install my passenger side step. Hard for my daughter to get in the truck.
Bars arried on time, with no damge as several other reviews stated. I did have to download the PDF file from manufacturer cause ones that came in box were no Legible. The brackets should be stamped/labeled with right front (RF), righ middle (RM) etc., this would hav made it so much easier (20 to 30) min job. Spent alot of time tryin to figure out which one went where (for th front and rear. Ended up doing the job twice since I had to swap some brackts once. Upon torquing the bolts to brackets one of the nut sleeves poped out of bar. I dont think we over torqued it but its possible; instructins should tell you what tourqe not to exceed. Real truck filed a claim to manufacturer, I recieved a new bar a couple of weeks later. Overall Happy with appearance but could have been lot easier to install......overall okay I guess.
We love the looks of these running boards. They were everything we expected. However the position of theming on our traverse makes it somewhat difficult to exit the traverse. They come straight out to the side which allows the back of your calf to hit when getting out. ; if you choose not to step on them and place foot on ground ) But as for looks they are remarkable. But not practical for easy use especially elderly or handicap. The design would have been better if they were lower than the side of the traverse.
Nerf bars are a necessity for moderately sized PU owners and passengers like us. These went on easily and look good. Mounting brackets are not as wide as others including the Dodge dealer supplied ones, but they appear to be heavy enough to survive winter. Time will tell. The 4 in. version projects further beyond the body line than I had anticipated, but that is a convenience as well as a tight space maneuvering issue.
These bars are good quality. Once mounted they are sturdy.They sit close to the truck. The instructions are a little vague but they get the job done.I had to buy some SAE washers to fit some of the bolts properly.That could just be me being picky.Looks liked they were made in Canada. Good job Canada.
The product is top notch and Im very happy with them. On the down side though, the directions were absolutely horrible. If you dont have previous experience installing these type bars, you will struggle to use the correct bolts and brackets. Installation would be much smoother without the trial and error to find which parts go where.
We were shorted a bunch of lock washers, and needed to shim the rear mounts down to level the steps. Overall they seem solid. There were some chips in the powder coat as well. Not bad for the price. Little disappointed with the lack of hardware and need to shim. Be aware and prepared for this if you buy these.
Looks great on the vehicle. Installation is fairly simple. However I had to combine 2 sets to finally get a pair that was not dented. After calling the manufacture 3 times and then finally having to have real truck send out a new set I was able to combine the first set and the second set to get a complete set that was not dented. The manufacture blamed the dents on the shipper however I do not believe either set was damaged during shipping because neither of the boxes were damaged. Real truck was excellent to deal with and was able to ship out the second set right away.
