I was looking for an entry bench in a very dark brown wood. This is exactly what I wanted and am very pleased with the bench. Looks handsome in my hall. Would recommend this to others looking for a quality, inexpensive alternative.
What an amazing deal! Finished product looks like it could sell for $350-$400 in an upscale furniture store! It is a cherry finished product. I read this in a review and bought it b/c I wanted it in cherry finish. Would not have bought it if it was as dark a wood as in the picture. It took at least 2 hours to put together, but boy is the finished product worth it! I'll put furniture together all day if it turns out this good for this price. If you follow the directions to the letter then it turns out perfect. If you're willing to concentrate on the assembly, then you'll have an amazing bench seat as a reward. Also, was much larger than I thought it would be. It could easily seat two large adults. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!
This is one super sweet bench for the money. Excellent value for an all wood bench. Great looking solid bench with a deep brown/walnut finish. We use it for shoe putting on and taking off and shoe storage by our front door. Works great for this purpose. I am going to install a shelf to create more storage. Other than that i could not be pleased any more. Easy assembly. A super deal at the price and site to store shipping is the best!
This is a great value, especially if you use the ship-to-store option and save on shipping. However, it has the usual problems you find with boxed DIY pieces: one of the decorative "x"s on the side had fallen off, and the front edge was scratched down to bare wood and damaged. Since the cushion covers the edge, I didn't bother bringing it back to exchange it. It was easy enough to assemble, and it does look great. I was impressed that the cushion even has a removable cover with zipper. All in all, I'd recommend the bench.
well after searching for a storage chest with a seat attached and finding ones way too expensive for its use, i decided to try wal-mart. I am glad I did. This bench not only looks great but matches our interior decorations..(Plus our very expensive wine server and table) and was about $780 dollars cheaper then the chest we wanted. Though you get what you pay for, its still a great product. The wood is just cheap laminted pressed cardboard. The whole thing is assembled with some screws. Not too complicated. The seat cushion itself is just a piece of cheap cushion covered in some cheap fabric. This can easily be changed if you happen to know a good sewer if you aren't one yourself allready. One tip though. If you are assembling this yourself, make sure you line up the backboard just right. Or you will screw right thru the backside on have the screws showing on the inside. Its pretty easy to assemble. The cross clips (you'll know what I'm talking about when you see them) are sorta a pain to work with when you have to line up the sides to tighten them. You sorta just have to fiddle with them, turning them while pushing down on the sides to get the side to slide down into it properly. Other then that, its a good piece of furniture for the price. Dont expect this to last forever though. Good piece to have when your on a budget. Or just need something to put in position if you are selling your house (My reasoning)
Took me 25 mins to assemble. Nice color and food finish. Cushion is cheap looking, you'd want to buy a cover for it. We're using it as a shoe bench. Works well, nice size too. Only shortcoming is space within it only holds about 6 pairs. Another shelf in it would be ideal.
I searched a long time trying to find something like this, with doors to hide things and a cushion seat, sure I found lots but didn't want to spend over $100. This works for the price but I wouldn't pay more for it. In the pic it looked black but was listed as "oak", it's atually darker, more of a cherry color also the doors are darker than the rest of the unit. When putting it together I found the predrilled holes on one side were not lining up with the screws (untill I took the wooden pegs out). One of the doors sits lower than the other and kind of drags when it s opened.. not too bad. I would suggest this for someone who just needs a little extra storage like I did. The peices seem to be sturdy and it looks better than the cubes I previously had but if your looking to "wow" people, this is not the item for you.
This bench is great looking however there were a few changes I made to it after I got it. First of all the cushion cover is just too plain looking so I spiced it up with some paint splatters to match my interior paint. The cushion itself is a little stiff. I hope it softens up with time but for me it's primarily a decorative piece. The cabinets are nice and spacious but because of how low they are I replaced the standard magnetic hasps with spring-loaded ones so I can basically just kick the doors and they'll pop open. Nice if you want to store shoes in it. The color of the wood is nice and dark. Assembly is pretty easy too. Nice product. I searched for quite a while for something like this and found a lot of things that were more pricey and less practical.
the bench looks really nice, looks more expasive than it actually is, great piece for the price! only thing is the storage could have one more shelf so we can store more shoes, as we use it for shoe stoage bench.
We purchased two of the items. My husband put them both together in about 1 hour. They look great and are very useful. We are using them for extra storage and seating. Overall...very happy with this product. If you need extra storage and seating and need to be able to move it around easily, this will work for you.
