I purchased this futon specifically to use as a bed. It is sturdy and good looking. I only had one slight problem--one of the wooden end pieces was slightly defective. It wasn't any big problem, but it did make that end piece just a little less sturdy than it would have been. Overall, I am very happy with this product.
Very easy to assemble very sturdy. Very nice wood work and frame work.
The photo doesn't do it justice. The Futon looks great and it took one person for the most part to put it together (not me :o) however I did help a little. My 7 year old grandson loves it so much, he asked if he could have it. I had the the mattress and cover from a previous futon that did not live through my son and his friends teen years.
My son put it together ina snap. And it's a syurdy and feel strong, but trying to close it after been used one night is a struggle and it need 2 person to close it.
This product would be worth the cheap price if futon mattresses weren't so expensive (minimum $180 to get a halfway comfortable one). The directions were poorly written and it shipped with the wrong hardware. (There was enough to put it together, but not by following the directions; I had to figure out which alternate parts to use instead of what they had in the book.) There's nothing wrong with the quality of the frame itself (i.e. the large parts), but its not as economical as it seems once you add the price of a mattress.
I was disappointed in the fact that the whole futon with mattress was pictured for the specified price. When it arrived without mattress for the Christmas gift I purchased, I was forced to buy a mattress and spent twice as much as I originally intended. The lesson I learned , read product descriptions, do not look only at the pictures!!!!
