I've had a few different beds, most notably the sealy that was extra nice. I sold it when I moved and stuck with a cheap mattress for awhile - until I finally needed to upgrade. This bed is definitely firm, yet the foam top provides soft enough comfort (for me). I got this sucker home, and by the second day, I was so comfortable I slept 12 hours straight! That's unusual for me. I got a queen size, and when my lady is getting up or moving, I can't tell because there's hardly any movement on the bed. Excellent bed indeed.
I did not go to any stores to determine whether I wanted firm or soft or whatever. I just did some reading. It says everywhere that 'firm' is the best for your back. Well, this bed is firm alright, and I love it!! I have been sleeping in on the weekends....didnt used to do that before. :)
This is a very nice mattress. When they say firm, they do mean firm. I think I am going to get an egg crate to go over the mattress to give it a little more softness. It appears to be an excellently constructed mattress, and the price was better than all the other retail stores that we looked at. Thank you Wal-Mart!
It is comfortable and looks nice. The edge is somewhat soft. The next class 'Worldclass' matress says it enhances the edge however it also much more expensive. Good mattress and good value!
I already had one of this model mattress at my old house and it works great when paired with a two inch, medium-high density memory foam topper. However, I would only recommend buying a king mattress online if you are sure you can get it up your stairs or in a second floor window safely without modifying your house. I was a dummy, forgetting about my condo stairs with the low ceiling (six steps, hairpin turn, six steps). Unfortunately, for my current house, I'll have to settle for Queen size. I was able to return the mattress and two box spring halves to my local Wal-Mart for an easy refund (minus about $200 shipping). It was nice having this return option and not having to pay a shipper again to return it to it's point of origin.
