I got one of these babies the other day. I couldn't resist the built in HD tuner. I priced the same radio at another store. $80 more than what I bought mine. I hooked it up and the HD signals come in great. I live in the Washington D.C. area so I get plenty of HD stations. I love the fact that most of the HD stations have additional stations added to them. Sound is great especially HD. This JVC unit does it great. I haven't tried the Ipod connection/satellite, but I feel this unit will handle it superbly. Don't hesitate to buy this product!
I have had a factory Installed system in my car all this time since I bought it. But then the system broke down and I had to buy a new system. I shopped around until I thought I had found what I needed at walmart for a good price. But at this time I was looking for features like the HD with the rest like a CD/Radio and I knew that JVC made good music systems but had not used one made by JVC on a car before. So i decided to buy one and install it, since the price looked Good. I got it hooked up at circuit city. They did an excellent Job. The sound is great expecially with the surround mode, 7 band graphic EQ, different sound modes like Jazz, Rock, etc. The functions and keys are sophisticated but easy to use with a little practice. I think I just bought the best Stereo system that JVC ever made with such a small price. The HD sounds awesome. it is better than CD quality sound. I never knew car stereo sounded so good until I bought this product at Walmart. its great sound for a small price. And yes it has its own built in amplifier. The sound is Crisp and Crystal clear with great Bass. It is your own home theater in your car. I would recommend this to everyone. Please Please buy this system if you are a Music Lover!!!!!!!!!!!
The HD hasn't really come on too much yet. I almost can't tell the difference. I bought this head unit because of the features. The ipod and sat' radio stuff won't be used, but there is always that option. Seperate front, rear, and subwoofer rca outputs and an equalizer, plus all the sound effects. The built in amp is plenty powerful and very clear. It will blow factory speakers easily if cranked up. The built in amp also has a protection feature. It will shut off if a speaker shorts out.
I ordered the stereo online and when it arrived the picture on the box did no justice for how sleek and modern the face design is. It has a large volume dial in a nice chrome finish with black and grey contours, everything lights up in a nice visible red light and the display is just kewl looking. After you tweak around with the features be sure to set the eq's to the most fitting sound and remember when programming your favorite station that its HD so most likely theres 1,2 or 3 HD channels for the same station just hit up or down by the volume knob to check. Oh yeah I almost forgot the best feature of having a HD unit like this it has text display options so if the station has tagged the song it comes up with the Title, and Artist so if your ever like wow this songs good what band is that, its right there on the display! I know HD is a new unfamiliar technology for radios but, with the digital switch in 2009 if your're gonna buy a new stereo might as well make it HD. Plus, its free, no monthly fee's and if your comfortable buying a named brand reliable product, JVC has come along way making great car audio products at a great price.
i pretty much only listen to the radio. i'm too lazy to burn cds nor do i own a ipod/other mp3 players. lots or features. powerful head unit. love the multicasting (more stations). i noticed a difference in quality.
Excellent stereo, easy to install. HD feature is as expected, tempermental. When the HD signal fades out, instead of static like heard on a normal FM station, it just goes silent. That's on the HD-2/3 etc. channels. HD-1 just fades into static and continues playing the FM as if you had a normal radio. But overall, I'd have to say that I'm delighted with the purchase considering I've been listening to a standard factory model stereo cassette for the last year-and the knobs were broken off. Great exchange for the better!!!!
Awesome stereo. Surpassed my expectations. Picks up signal great. Bass and treble are adjustable seperately in the front and back along with sub bass and volume, which is good because my rear speakers can take more a lot more bass than the front. The sound is excellent, far better than I expected. Reads every CD and mp3 disk I've thrown at it. The receiver looks great, the lights and chrome and all. It looks pretty cool in my dash. The only thing I didnt like was the remote, it works well and is very responsive, but it has very few features and feels cheap. Other than that, for 108 bux this is a heck of a buy.
This stereo unit is an excellent deal because it is not "HD Radio Ready", it is fully equipped with a HD tuner. You do not have to buy extra accessories to get the HD. The HD radio "add-ons" are much more expensive and they don't replace the old stereo with a cd player too. I put this unit into my truck and the reception is great, the cd player is nice with text for the songs, and it would match any interior. The only thing I didn't care for is the sound settings. There isn't normal bass and treble adjustments, all the sound adjustments are done with preset EQ's. There is an option to make your own personal EQ, but it takes time. Overall, this is the best buy out there from a trusted name.
pretty good, not to difficult to use. Some of the closest stations dont come in as good, but others are great.
I bought this radio online because it was a really good price, lack of detail in the description caused me to miss that it didn't have front aux input, and the HD part was cool, but it didn't pick up to many stations in my area. The head unit itself looks great, and sounds really good, but it was a little disappointing.
