These speakers provide clear sound. My only problem is that since I have stock speakers in the front, it seems like all the sound is coming from the rear. They do seem like they should be amped too. My stereo pushes 80w I think (its new jvc, love it), but even that seems like not quite enough. I think they max out around 500w or something, so I'm thinking at least 250 would sound a lot better. I have an old kenwood 1000 that I plan to install once the door speakers get here. They were easy to install and came will grills, wire, and screws if you need em. Easily fit in my 2000 civic Si, although have fun getting all the civic panels off. Be a good lad and get yourself a crimping tool and do this right though. It will make you and your speakers proud. For you truck or old car people, the speaker box comes with trace cut outs drawn on the box. So if you don't have stock speaker spots to put them, you can cut your own. I am a firm lover of JVC after owning my last cd player for 9 years. Yes, that's right kids. 9 years. It didn't even break on me, I just lost the faceplate. Gosh was I made that day. They make quality products as far as I can tell. My last CD player led me to buying their speakers. Soon I will have all JVC speakers running off a JVC800 deck. Brand name shouldn't be about price, it should be about quality. For me, JVC means quality.
