We had one of these for our older son and loved it! The only reason we bought a new one was because the old one was somewhere in our storage unit. We haven't used it much with our younger son, but plan to. It is easy to use and works well. Our older son used it until he was 5 and started lessons. One bit of advice, if your child is skinny, you may want to take out 2 of the floats right away. Our son had trouble staying upright until we did.
We bought this item for our daughter for Christmas. Used it the next week at the beach in the indoor pool and she loves it. She is comfortable with jumping into the pool from the side and wants to stay in the water. Before we bought this item she only wanted to be in a kiddie pool where she could reach the bottom. Will purchase another size when she is bigger.
I bought this product for my daughter when she was 3. It really helped her to gain confidence in her swimming. Before purchasing this she had used floaties, but they really restricted her from learning to swim, they just keep the child afloat. This does both. It fits securely, and allows freedom of movement. I like the fact that as the child's swimming skills increase, the pads can be removed one at a time. It took my daughter a few summers of wearing this vest and me working with her, and now she is a great swimmer! Only down side...the material is similar to that of swimwear, so it needs to be rinsed out after being in a cholrinated pool. If not, it will wear out very quickly.
Love this swimming vest. It allows the kids to go under water and practice swimming independently.
I bought my first one for my first grandson 17 years ago. He was 18 months old. In no time he was able to dogpaddle on his own. I have used the swimways Little Swimr products for all 5 grandsons. the last two are ages 1 1/2 and 2 1/2. The 2 1/2year old goes all over our pool like a little fish and. The 1 1/2 yeear old is learning to paddle from grandma to mom and dad.
My aunt purchased this for her three year old son so he could get in the pool with us "big kids" i was so worried at first, but this really helped him stay afloat its a great product
Swimways Power Swimmer Vest The Power Swimmer Vest by Swimways is one of the best investments I ever made. My granddaughter, who is 20 months old, is a real "water rat". She loves getting her face and head wet. We decided if she was going to be in the pool all the time, it was time for her to learn how to swim. The Power Swimmer Vest is a great invention for babies. She is not afraid to try to swim, float or jump into the water. The vest keeps the child afloat. She kicks her feet and uses her hands and is really trying to swim. She lies on her back with no fear of going under and kicks and moves her hands. I think this is a great item to help toddlers learn to swim-- by the end of the summer, I think she will be swimming and will feel safe enough to take the Power Swimmer Vest off. This vest gives them the security they need to swim, and is very easy to use. It slips right up the legs of the child into the crotch, put the arms in zip and pull the strings on the side to tighten. That's all there is to it! It fits snugly, secure and safely on the child, without fear of them slipping out. Easy to keep clean--just hang up to dry and it's ready to use again.
Performs exactly as I had expected it to. It keeps my 14 month old son afloat while he paddles and kicks himself around the pool. He does need some minor assistance at times with balancing. I knew to expect this as I has read on the Swimways web site that younger swimmers may need help with this. My son loves to wear it and it fits well on his 23 lb frame.
My daughter is 26 months old, 26 lbs, and 37" tall. The size small fit her weightwise, but the straps were way too short, wouldn't connect. I returned it and had to buy a medium from another company as Walmart was out. But we love it!!! Works great, gives your arms and wrist a break from holding an active child in the water. My daughter has used it 4 times and is getting used to swimming on her own and loves the freedom and being able to swim to me and not just beside/in front of me.
This product was recommended to me by my 2 year old daughters swim instructor. My daughter wears 33 lbs. I bought the small one because it said it was for up to 35 lbs but that does not take into account her weight with a wet diaper and bathing suit apparently because it did not hold her up at all. She would have gone under completely if I were not holding her. I immediately bought the next size up and it was great! We use it all the time. A little disappointed that I wasted the money on the small one she never got to use but now that we have the right size we are so happy with the product. I have recommended it to all my friends who have also bought it for there kids. Not bulky. Gives her the freedom to swim without restricting her arms and keeps her up really well (now that we have the correct size). I think for those kids who are borderline at the end of the weight range for one size should definitely size up.
