This little inexpensive phone is more than I expected and I was surprised to find it worked beautifully in my fortress of a home! Most people tell me they get no signal in my house, but this phone worked perfectly from day one. I am delighted with this purchase.
I got this phone for my grandaughter for Christmas it is practical and comes with a lot of xtras. for the price this phone can't be beat...I have never done the "add minutes to the phone thing" but because of her age (7) i am willing to try, plus if she looses the phone...no big deal.
The sound was a little too low on my end but receiver said they could hear me well. Good basic phone for emergencies and had no trouble making it silent when necessary and locking the keyboard when needed. Extremely small and easy to put in my pocketbook. Had a case with it and battery.
This is an inexpensive cell phone but certainly 'worth its stuff'. We are here for four months in FL, visiting from Canada and don't need all the 'bells and whistles'. When I opened the Tracfone Box (which was delivered in two days!), I nearly passed out. It had everything needed to start calling/texting. The phone itself, SIM card, battery, chargers for home AND car, earbud, handsfree talking, and a great hard case. Plus there was an activation card and lots of great coupons for extra minutes (hint: go to retailmenot.com on the 'net and look for Tracfone coupons or promo codes which will add even more minutes to your phone.) If you don't need 'fancy' just 'practical and inexpensive'-this is the pay-as-you-go phone for you!!
fone ordered via internet did not work so my grandpa in montana had to return and exchange. Staff at walmart set new fone up for him and now everything works great. very very good value and used as a second fone for travel. works well and has great clarity.
I'm old and never had the need for a cell phone, and not real tech savy. I thought it was the time for a phone for emergencies. Need something basic and easy to use, this works for me. For just a phone and text it's a great deal for $10. I don't mind buying the minutes but hate the time limit.
I got this for my father who is 88 years old so something SIMPLE is required. This phone meets the requirement and rings loud enough, once adjusted, for my dad to hear. Ground transport to my home took a little longer than I expected, probably due to the holidays.
I like the phone itself. Sleek, easy to turn on etc. However, the directions for setting up V. mail and the password, etc are not very good. SEVERAL phone' calls were needed in order to activate it, set up the Voice mail (box) and also to permit folks to use my voice mail feature. This should not be so complicated. Why was it? Not sure but the book makes it sound altogether more simple than it is.
Walmart.com says that this phone will work in my zip code, BUT it will not. So frustrated to have a disappointed teenager with a nonworking phone and wasted minutes and usage that I purchased with the phone as well. CHECK with Trac Phone FIRST before purchasing, as Walmarts list of where it will and won't work is very wrong.
My problem was not the phone but the reception I was or (was not) getting with this phone. The service provider for this particular phone is (AT&T). I bought it for my father to use in his room in the Nursing Home. I called Tracfone tech support on my (Verizon) cell phone from my fathers room to troubleshoot my reception problem. I had MY (Verizon) phone in my right hand and the Tracfone in my left hand for Appoximately 2-1/2 hours. I never lost reception on my phone, but the Tracfone would go in and out and had no service on the table that my father would be keeping it. Tracfone tech support eventually told me to go outside, call a number they gave me, the call went to voicemail and based on that call going through, they said evreything is working fine. I then explained that this would not work for me and inquired about a refund. She told me that I could take my phone back to Wal-Mart and get my money back ($9.98), but they will not refund the $99.99 400 min. 1 year phone card I bought from them. That is a total loss of $122.00. FOR THE RECORD: You can choose your provider (Verizon or AT&T) by the phone you purchase. Verizon phones will have a "C" in the model number and AT&T will have a "G". Because of the experience I had with a phone in each hand from each provider at the same time, I believe a phone with Verizon as the provider would have worked. However, because prior to purchasing I checked with Tracfone to make sure I would have coverage, I still had a coverage problem and gave them 2-1/2 hours to resolve my issue, and when they couldn't resolve my problem they would not issue a refund, I am DONE with TRACFONE.
