Let me be clear, the two things I value most when it comes to a cell phone is battery life and talk time. Because first and foremost I use this as a phone for emergencies, memories, business transactions, and random conversations. I want to hear the person I'm talking to clearly and I want to be able to be away from my charger for at least a day. I am happy to report that this phone suceeds in all of those categories. One of my favorite features is Ultra Power Mode where it drops off all unnecessary features to keep your phone ready in an emergency if there is no charger nearby. If worse comes to worse, because the battery can be replaced, an extended battery can be added for extremely long battery life. The sound for calls and sounds played through the external speaker sound better and more powerful than they did on the S4. There are also more volume steps, up and down, for in-call volume and a new feature called "Extra Volume" that I imagine boosts the volume past top volume for truly loud environments. The other features to me, while secondary, are excellent as well. I love the new fingerprint scanner for locking my phone (see protip at the bottom) and the fact that it can secure pictures in your gallery that are only viewable after you've swiped your finger. It also can be done in a one-handed fashion by swiping your thumb at an angle holding your phone like you normally would. I don't trust it enough to allow it to integrate with Paypal, but I'll let it secure the content on my device. The exercise features, such as the heart rate monitor and the pedometer, work very well and I've enjoyed using them. I feel the heartbeat sensor is more finnicky than the pedometer, but if you place your finger gently and evenly over the whole sensor it seems to work fairly consistently. For the safety concious there is now a built-in emergency mode that after setting it up you hit the power button 3 times it will automatically start recording front and rear cameras, blast your GPS position to your top contacts, and ultimately give piece of mind if walking alone. This is a great feature and something that would serve people well in an emergency. There are a lot of new features that I didn't mention that make the phone great, like the fact that I doubt dropping it anywhere but off a cliff would hurt it, but the things I mentioned were important for me and for my family. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and I would buy another S5 if I lost this one for any reason. I hope this helps a few decide to pick up this phone because it is excellent and built very well. Protip: The fingerprint scanner can be spoofed by the fingerprint smudges on your screen if your phone is stolen. A more secure use of the fingerprint scanner is to scan a finger that doesn't touch the phone from each hand. That way the print is never left on the screen and no matter which hand you hold your phone with you can unlock it with the other hand. It will hold 3 fingerprints so be creative!
I have been purchasing Samsung products for a great part of my life now and they never disappoint! My new S-5 is the bomb! It does all I would like and more. I have always thought the I-phone holds you hostage based on what I have heard my friends say. It is nice to know I can enjoy the Freedom Samsung gives me. "Keep it up" Samsung!
I really love my Samsung Galaxy 5S!! The features are AWESOME!! I have NEVER seen or taken better pictures, even with my great digital camera! I would love it more if Sprint would take action and get their stuff fixed and going! 2 years ago I had no problems at all with my Sprint service, in fact, when we were place like the river playing on the 4 wheelers, razors and sand buggies, I was the ONLY one that could get phone service out of the whole bunch there and that was with Sprint!! NOW, I'm the ONLY one that CAN'T get any service at all down there!! BUT, I LOVE MY GALAXY 5S!! :)
There's a ton of reviews out there so I will make this brief: the phone is sleeker and feels better than most people think. The black (gray, really) back feel like a wonderful compromise between texture and weight, the bells and whistles that come with the phone, like the fingerprint reader, make a qualitative difference, and the camera is remarkable. And, in this version, the small changes made to TouchWiz have made a huge difference in increasing the elegance of the phone. As of this date (launch day -1), it is without a doubt the best full-feature phone available! Compromises: not metal (I like this, but many prefer metal and glass) and poor speaker
just picked up two of these up on the release day for myself and my girlfriend. must admit the screen is amazing on these cells, talk about a wow factor when I first seen it in person. there I so many features in the phone. it will take a while to get around it all . I would highly recommend these to everyone . keep up the good work SAMSUNG . its the best cell phone on the planet by far. thanks, k f
I really like the feel of the cell phone, its light, sturdy, and comes ready to use. I really like the fingerprint feature to unlock the phone, it makes it I think impossible for anybody to unlock it. I have my car, headphones, speakers connected vie Bluetooth and it connects easy and fast. I have many apps and it does not slow down at all. The screen is of high quality nice and clear. I also like that it has a pedometer, heart sensor and this keeps me moving. I use the alarm of the phone every morning, another feature I use and really like is the one I can send the video over to my TV to watch. It charges very fast and it lasts all day. I really like that there is an external mini sd card slot that i can put in my memory and take it out if i need it to. i have a 32gb there but i know i can get a 64gb installed instead. just like that. one thing i do no like and this might be because it is from sprint, is that there is no turn on and off of data use. when i go to sleep I do not like to have the phone running so I usually like to put it with no data so i can still get a call or text but nothing else. well this phone does not have it therefore i have to put it on airplane mode and i dont get anything. hope they put that function back. other than that I really like my phone.
After resisting for a number of years, I finally made the move into smartphone ownership with purchase of the Samsung Galaxy S5. It proved its worth within the first two weeks. I love being able to have easy access to email while I'm traveling. The still camera is excellent, and I'm having fun learning how to use the video. I look forward to exploring more of its many features.
this phone has everything you need , I use my galaxy 5 for work ,making appointments, taking pictures of job progress, and my clients are just one button away.my phone and my 60 inch flat screen tv are Samsung and work excellent.
The phone is just right for anyone. It take the perfect picture and play the video just right. Internet connection work great and the way it display is perfect.
I purchased this phone to replace a Galaxy S5 I had dropped and broken. I was nervous to purchase it because I wasn't positive it would work for me. A pop-up screen asked for my zip code to see if it would work in my area and it said this device would NOT work in my area. I did a lot of checking before actually purchasing. I contacted Sprint as well as BREED the third party seller of this phone. I told them I HAVE this model already and it works in my zip code. They said it should be ok so I moved ahead with my purchase. I LOVE this phone! It's brand new and saved me around $400 if I had bought the latest model(Galaxy S7) from the carrier(Sprint) I would definitely recommend purchasing this product from Walmart. com!
