once you get through all the hoopla of putting it together, it is a great swingset. The instructions are almost worthless, and the bolts are so close to the same size, and not marked so we used wrong bolts in wrong places, had to tear down to get the right bolts for the right places. We finally went to the hardware store and got our own bolts. It took 4 adult men that work in the construction business over 6 hours to put this together. It was a nightmare. After it was together, my 3 year old granddaughter just loves it. She is on it every chance she gets. I will say that I was impressed with all the hook covers, etc. that was included for safety. There are no sharp corners, bolts sticking out, open chains, etc. for a child to get hurt from.
Well thank goodness I had read many review on the product prior to buying it! NUTS AND BOLTS! ! Only 1 bolt fit where it was supposed to , ALL the reviews said the same thing so I was ready, on Christmas a.m. I told my husband and father better just take that one bolt to the hardware store and buy more. Tada.....2 hours later we had a swing set. So far it's great we are military so it works for us both the price and ability to more it in a few years.
We just finished assembling the set and our 4 year old is having a ball with it. For the price it was well worth it compared to what swing sets cost today. The bolts provided however use a regular screw driver head on one end and a lock nut on the other. We had an extremely hard time tightening them without stripping the screw driver end (two person job). We suggest you try tightening one before starting assembly. After we assembled probably 80% of the set, to feel secure decided to buy and replace all of the bolts with hexagonal heads ($15.00) so we could tighten them with a socket and open end wrench. End result is a solid swing set with no worries of anything getting loose. One negative is we are missing the hardware to hang one of the swings and we had to drill in two instances as the holes did not align.
The overall look of the swing set looks normal. It was easy enough to put together with 2 people doing the job. I felt that the screws and nuts were inferior and we had to fight getting to work them installed in a couple of places. The instructions were generic and you had to use your imigination to put it together. We have had it up for 2 weeks now and our 2 year old is enjoying the slide portion the most.
DO NOT BUY UNLESS YOU KNOW YOUR WAY AROUND A HARDWARE STORE!!!! The bolts were all 1/4 inch too short and there were bolts and nuts missing. The instructions are inferior. Of course I would expect for the instructions to not be the greatest, but we had to guess how bars and pieces went. Overall, our girls loved it when we did finish it and here are the pics to prove it. make sure that you inventory what you do have and then go to the hardware store and get what you really need.
THIS SWINGSET WAS DIFFICULT TO PUT TOGETHER. DIRECTIONS WERE NOT CLEAR. WE ALSO HAD MISSING PARTS. AFTER I PURCHASED THE SWING I READ THE REVIEWS. MORE THAN HALF OF THE SETS BOUGHT HAD PARTS MISSING. I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU SPEND A LITTLE MORE AND GET A BETTER SWINGSET.
This swing was not that hard to put together, the directions are some what hard to understand. They could be more user friendly. I have parts missing. like everybody else who wrote a review. the ones for the rings. 2 nuts, 2 washers, and 2 plastic pieces.The ones that hold the rings to the top bar. But after I put it together my grandson Mason, started playing on it and he loves it. He only 3 years old.
I purchased this swing set for my 3 grandchildren. It's ok for the 2 & 4 year old. But the slide is small for the 5 year old. Not real sturdy, but for the price it's ok for the little one's. The kit was missing parts to put hang rings.
ordered on-line w/site to store delivery, Walmart was great w/notification of pick-up time ect. Picked-up & then problems started, found assembly instructions not useful & parts missing, Purchased some bolts/nuts to assemble except 1 swing. The hardware to attach to top pipe was missing & unavailable at hardware stores. Unable to get any response from Flexible Flyer via telephone or E-mail. numerous tries unanswered, w/40+ minutes hold times or busy-busy-busy. Wal-mart Mgr trying to help after I gave up on Mfg on 3/16/09
I bought this set a few years ago and it sits useless and unused now. My husband hit the bottom of the slide while mowing and the screws broke though the plastic, so the slide can't be used anymore. (See picture.) The swings fell apart too. I took a picture of the one that is still left hanging. (Picture is attached.) The set is covered in rust (which happened less than one year of use.) If using this set, please make sure you anchor it to the ground. My girls are very petite, and they still had the legs rocking off the ground while they were swinging on it I would recommend spending the extra money and getting one of the wooden sets that last longer. (I bought a wooden set and it is still going strong!) This metal swing set will last approximately 2 years. After that, it will only be an eyesore.
