My granddaughter absolutely loves it best purchase I made to see a smile on her face an gentleman that dropped it off we're very polite an will definitely upgrade in the future from here
I bought this for my son on his 4th birthday. He absolutely loves it and I can't wait to see his imagination soar as he's playing pirates, looking for dinosaurs and going down the "super speed slide"! As a single mother, I spend hours researching what would be the best and most affordable for my budget. I had initially tried to purchase this same set through walmart.com because it was cheaper. However, it was not in stock (and we would have had to pick it up from the store). They also could not tell me when it would be in stock. I received a coupon from Backyard Discovery's mailing list and it made the play set cheaper than what I would have paid at Wal-Mart. The fact that it was then delivered to my home was a bonus too! Myself, my mother and a friend of hers put this play set together. Thanks to the instructions and similar minds, we only had to redo about 3 pieces that were initially put on backwards. I was worried at first that it would be difficult to do without a strong (or tall man). But we completed the project in a day and a half. It probably could have been done in 1 day, but we couldn't build in the dark. We reveled in the accomplishment of completing the project on our own and in a short time frame. Thank you Backyard Discovery for a great play set that is easy to build, no matter your gender or age and that it is also affordable and sturdy!
Great bang for your buck! Took my father and I about 10 hours to assemble. We are both very capable but the assembly wasn't the easiest
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Amazing! Looks great and my daughter really loves it.
This is going to be a longer review since it was a multistep process of having this thing bought and setup in our backyard. If you consider purchasing this set (or probably any other from this company) you may find the information very useful. First of all we searched for a set within a reasonable budget, we got 1 kid, we didn't need anything huge or fancy, we have a certain slopped somewhat narrow backyard therefore having the set shaped as narrow horizontal was a preference. After spending months trying to get the best deal out in many retailers, we found that buying directly through backyard discovery was the cheapest option. All other retailers add their own fees or/and shipping on top. Many other retails reviews consisted of 'low quality wood', however backyard discovery products had a limited amount of 1 star rating related to wood quality issues. After ordering it the delivery process was straightforward. I got to note there's no way to speak to a human unless you make some effort. Delivery was on time and great. For installation I'll sum up the good and the not so. The good: 1. Base load bearing wood is high quality; I assume this wood will last for a real long time. 2. Instructions are very clear (I mean almost IKEA clear), I highly recommend using the Bilt app alongside the paper manual (as reference). 3. All but 2 piece of wood was marked. this is clearly important because there were more than 200 pieces big and small. ORGANIZE it, put labels (see image attached) and save lots of time afterwards. 4. All hardware was marked, all hardware with probably >10 pieces had at least 1 spare. 5. Hardware is really high quality, amazingly sturdy hardware that should last for years. 6. I weigh around 170 pounds and I had to go on the set to setup the roof, the structure didn't budge or move. it is safe even though I assume it's under some structural pressure (since I'm not a real pro). 7. I contacted support just once, they really tried to help me, even though it was my mistake. Now for the bad: 1. Bilt instructions were not aligned with reality for 2 steps. created some confusion. 2. Technical support didn't conclude the case once I sent them an email that it was my mistake (probably were angry with me for some reason). 3. Now let's speak about anchors. Anchors are really important for safety. HOWEVER, the one you supposed to twist in didn't come with any kind of leverage it was painfully hard in some spots. 4. Anchor's drill spots had to be drilled where I decided, the issue with that, that by that step you cannot do it from out->in you must do it from in-out and then you have an exit wood split regardless how gently you drill. 5. The small piece wood parts are not really sturdy, some wider screws were wood killer screws, which just split it regardless how gently you screw it in. however I have no intent to believe that this wood will not break anytime soon. 6. The swing set supposed to be stained, but that's not a penetrating stain, it's just 2-3mm of whatever it is (and it stinks for a while), we are going to use a sealer to seal the construction with a 2-layer sealant to prevent the pain/stain peel off. we decided that we'll do that after assembly completed, because doing it 1-by-1 is too much time. Most of the job I did solo, my wife helped me when she could. I started indoors and after the bottom box needed to be connected, I moved outdoors. It took me around 5 days 2-3 hours a day to finish it with no rush. You cannot go wrong by assembling it yourself, it will require some physical load on your body (especially if you are doing it solo). You need to have: 1. Step ladder (I used 2 step, I'm 5'8"). 2. A Hammer 3. Wrench set 4. Drill/Variable speed screwdriver (battery) 5. Leveler (you can level post assembly but before you screw in anchors, you may want to level it to 1" level and not 3-4" as referenced, use highly compactable material such as gravel to ensure support). 6. Smartphone for Bilt app. I hope my experience with this swing set will be helpful for somebody. I will recommend buying this set, you cannot go wrong with that kind of wood quality & assembly instructions!
I purchased this exact swing set 6 years ago for my grandson, we did add a few things that helped make those swing set last and look as great as it did when we built it 6 years ago. 1st* paint will make the wood last a LOT longer 2nd* we added railroad post to set it on to protect it from sprinkler damage, root and stability. 3rd* I added fence wood to enclose the bottom portion and turned it into a safe sandbox, enclosed so kids don't walk out into swings. 4th* pool noodles for head bonkers protection. This swingset looks as good as new and is 6years old.
The swingset is really nice. My grandkids love it. The delivery people called us and told us what day they would be delivering it, and then called us a half hour away from our home. They unloaded it right where we wanted them to One thing, after looking at all the parts my husband and son didn't want to tackle the job. We did end up hiring a person I believe there's a number on the box. It took one person seven hours to put it together.
Decent. Instructions can be tough to follow but manageable. Time consuming def need two people to build or move. Some boards came warped or not drilled and coded on all sides. Otherwise not bad. Kids love it
Nice playset. Daughter loves it. A lot of different hardware to deal with when assembling. Takes longer to assemble than says. But we are happy with the purchase so far.
I'm a little disappointed but my kids love it. Some of the wood slats are thin and split when the set was being put together. It also squeaks and moves as the kids swing (It is mounted in the ground with all 6 spikes). I've added WD40, but still have the issue. This doesn't seem to bother my kids, as they've been asking for a play set for a year. I do like that additional accessories can be purchased for it. The bucket swing and chalkboard have been added to ours.
