I just brought this game one week ago!its wonderful!it really helps you in the outside world to because you have to be careful with your money!if you are looking for a family game its the perfect one!!happy newyear!!!=>
This updated edition of Monopoly was new and fun for everyone at our Christmas gathering from age 17 to those of us in our early 50s. The debit card feature is wonderful -- no more paper money. The global aspect made Monopoly very relevant for the global world we live in. Highly recommended! WalMart ordering and delivery were 1st rate!
Was fun to play. A little pricey for a game. Liked the electronics of it.
Purchased for my 12 y/o son. Just enough 'gadgetry' to get him interested but we loved playing it, our first family monopoly adventure. Was great fun. Rules take some getting used to but provided great quality family time. We talked about a lot of the 'world' places since i've been to most of them and he's old enough to be interested. We have really enjoyed this addition to family game-nite :)
This product encourages younger players to ask questions about the various world sites and opens up opportunities for communications with adults about the geography and history of those sites. It is a fun way to learn and share with family and friends.
I'm not a big fan of the monopoly board game period. I usually only play it if my friends keep hounding me. We played the new monopoly game last night and it was a whole lot more fun and exciting. Kudos to whoever thought up the idea of using the credit cards. So much better than the old game. My son and his girlfriend liked it so much they're going to buy it today. I just might be more inclined to play this game now.
This is a fun game, and the debit card reader is a novel idea, but we think that it slows down the game a bit. You have to put in the player's card for every transaction, and switch out cards for various transaction, sometimes 3-4 times per turn. This is a little frustrating for the players since they have to wait on the banker to finish the transaction. Remembering whose card is whose can be a little tricky as well. The big bummer is that the players cannot readily see how much money they have! You have to insert their card to see if they can afford a transaction. What a pain! I think we are going to buy the paper money - or make some of our own!
The new electronic bank in this game is great and it helps reduce the clutter of the paper money found in the old game, but there are a few downsides. If there is a rush of real estate activity, say if you pass GO but land on an opponent's property that has a hotel on it, its a 5 minute deal swapping cards in and out to adjust for the requisite funds for the involved players. Still an awesome game and would recommend it to anyone. But a word of caution: Be prepared to spend a few solid hours playing, because just like the original, it is addicting and highly competitive!!!
As like all of the other reviewers I have to agree, it does get a little frustrating having to switch out the cards to transfer money over. And the fact you can't see your money with out putting it in the swiper is another big deal. But overall its a fairly good game, a little more expensive when I bought it for $30 would like to see it go a little cheaper.
I received this game for christmas, the first time we tried playing it our banking system wouldn't work. It would reset and you could see the screen however after the banking device "booted" up - it went completely blank on the screen. You could still hear the sound effects from pushing buttons, but you couldn't see anything on the screen. So, we took it back and got another one. Excited to actually see how it worked... we got the same issue. You couldn't see anything on the screen. I've read online on other websites and this seems to be a common problem. Might just spend the extra money and get the more expensive electronic banking monopoly! Purchase at your own risk!!!
