All you do is strum the "strings" to play. You cannot play anything except for the programmed songs on this one. But hey, the kids love it. Made better than I thought it would be.
I have had fun with it & I am an adult :) My daughter is only one but she enjoys the music & like to try to strum. I like the feature that you can play chords yourself. I play twinklw twinkle for her. I can't actually play guitar but this is a fun & cheap way to play!
I purchased this & the drums for my son as an 8th bday gift & he loves it!! We didn't know when we purchased that it had the freestyle option & now its Logan's favorite!! You can play it like a real guitar on freestyle. It's also easy enough for my 2 year old daughter to JAM with her Big Brother!!! My only complaint is that it eats up the batteries really quickly, & I buy the good batteries. When the batteries get low the guitar acts like its possesed & plays randomly no matter what setting you have selected. But ohter than that it is a great product, I just wish they offered the bundle in store when I purchased!!
