[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With my resin work, I have tried to use the polishing compound. It works great just got to learn more as to the resin side of things
I received this compound with the Dremel Cleaning and Polishing kit. I used this along with the Bristle Brush bit to remove heavy oxidation off of the metal trim on my 10 year old Volkswagen. It works great! I tried numerous other metal polishers from the big box and auto parts stores and even some household remedies like vinegar, lemon juice and baking soda. Nothing cleaned it like new compared to this compound! While it is a bit messy when polishing at high speeds it is well worth the couple of minutes of clean up time for such amazing results!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was not sure how to use this when I bought my first Dremel so I didn't utilize it for longer than I care to admit. Once I had a friend teach me how to properly use it, I have been more than happy with the results.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this on all my fine jewelry to shine them. I worked for a jeweler in Utah and it works similar to rouge. It's great and not so abrasive.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this compound!! It only takes a very small amount to get thr job done!! Buffs out scratches beautifully and prevents damage to my projects! I use in various projects including rock tumbling and jewelry making as well as in general DIY and repair tasks. I love it...easy ro use!
Just finished the handle for this old Colman cooler I'm doing semi restoration on. Works as intended
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I use this to polish triggers, slide friction surfaces, feed Ramos and "white" recievers to give them a mirror, almost chrome like finish. Also good for performance carb bodies like the Suoer E & G series also made of polished aluminum to look spectacular. Almost Chrome even.
Good stuff but a little messy when used with high speed polishing felt wheels. The soft compound (Dremel No. 421) flies off the wheel and get's on everything nearby including your cloths. So wear old cloths when working with this stuff. It also will dry out over several years even if you keep the plastic rubber lid on the container. So you will have to either figure out what type of solvent they used to soften it up or buy a new one. I just used it to polish up some old rusted bits that were in my tool box and got a little rust and corrosion on them making it hard to read the size or number on the tool bits. It did a pretty good job of cleaning up the rust and corrosion so I could see the sizes that are stamped into the metal of the bits.
Not sure 421 stands up to the reviews. This is not “mirror shine”. Smaller objects, may look better, but larger, not so much. I came here to find its grit or equivalent. This is more of a mid cut to low polish for harder metals like stainless. Time to order up some less abrasive compound to finish it completely, but almost there, thanks to this. Could have been there if it were finer, but couldn't find the info I needed and decided to try it. Please provide more info on your products. It is LAZY not to do so! Product deserves 4 star, giving you 3 for lack of info.
First up: Dremel, please POST THE GRIT LEVEL NUMBER for this product! Ok, with that message out of the way, I will share that I found this to be more of a mid/moderately-high grit cleaning compound, rather than a polishing compound. While pretty good for very small items, do not expect a mirror finish from this product. I used it to polish guitar frets and the result was decent, but not what I expected. Two stars given for a "fair" product that sorely lacks labeling and specification transparency.
